Following the footsteps of CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), the IITs(Indian Institutes of Technology) too have released a list of 'prohibited' items for students who will be appearing for JEE Advanced 2017 on May 21. Check the exam important dates here!

Last year, these premier tech colleges had introduced a dress code. However, for 2017, the IIT Council has released a long and exhaustive list of 'non-wearables' for the upcoming exam. The published list looks stringent; similar to the one released by CBSE for NEET UG conducted recently.

The list of items banned for JEE Advanced 2017 includes items like rings, bangles, chains, ear rings, nose pins, chains/necklaces, modern watches, pendants, badges, brooches, hair bands, hair pins, big buttons, veil or full sleeves clothes. Some of items that were banned in 2016 included things like writing pads, full sleeves, shoes etc.

The good news is that this year, they have allowed students to get watches but only the simple analogue ones. This is to help them keep a tab on the estimated time. Till last year, all kinds of watches were banned.

The dress code in 2016 was introduced last year after cases of cheating were reported in All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) 2015.
