JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Date Announced: Check Key Updates for Aspiring IITians
JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be conducted on May 17. Interested candidates can apply from April 23. Registration for foreign canddates will however start on April 6. Only those candidates who obtains scores above NTA JEE cutoff can apply for JEE Advanced 2026. Foreign nationals are exempt from appearing in JEE Main or obtaining cutoff.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has announced the JEE Advanced 2026 exam date as May 17, 2026. Apart from exam date, schedule for other exam events like registration, admit card, answer key and result has been also announced.
Candidates who qualify JEE Main 2026 by securing the minimum cutoff scores will be eligible to apply for IIT JEE 2026 exam.
JEE Main 2026 Session 2 is being held from April 2 to 8 across 500+ centers nationwide. More than 11 lakh candidates are appearing in the session 2 exam. In session 1 of NTA JEE, more than 13 lakh candidates have taken the test.
Candidates who appear in both sessions, their result/merit position will be calculated based on best of two scores. The minimum cutoff percentile for JEE Advanced will be announced by NTA along with session 2 result by April 20.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2026: Who Qualifies?
To appear for JEE Advanced, candidates must meet stringent criteria:
- Age Limit: Born on or after October 1, 2001 (with five-year relaxation for SC/ST/PwD).
- Qualifying Exam: Top 2.5 lakh JEE Main ranks, including all categories
- Attempts: Maximum two consecutive years post-Class 12 (2025 or 2026 passers).
- Class 12 Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics mandatory; minimum 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST).
- Special Provisions: Up to 5% supernumerary seats for female candidates; PwD quota with scribe facilities.
JEE Advanced Registration 2026
IIT Roorkee will start JEE Advanced 2026 registration on April 23 for JEE Main qualified candidates. Application process for foreign candidates will however, start on April 6. Foreign nationals are exempt from appearing in JEE Main and any cutoff eligibility thereof.
