JEE Advanced 2026 Paper Today; IIT Roorkee Issues Fresh Guidelines for Students
Fresh exam centre guidelines, instructions of dress code and list of prohibited items has been released by IIT Roorkee. All JEE Advanced 2026 aspirants appearing in the exam today must follow the guidelines mentioned here.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee is conducting the JEE Advanced 2026 exam today. The exam will be held across 221 cities in India and 2 cities abroad. The paper will be held online as a computer based test in two shifts, 9 am to 12 pm and 02:30 pm to 05:30 pm.
Candidates appearing in the exam must ensure they report to the exam centre on time, as per the schedule mentioned in their JEE Advanced 2026 admit card. Entry inside the exam hall will be provided by showing admit card and any one photo ID proof.
The IIT Roorkee issued fresh guidelines for all JEE Advanced 2026 aspirants. It is very important that they adhere to the instructions and guidelines mentioned herein.

List of Prohibited Items at JEE Advanced Exam Centre
- The candidates are not allowed to carry the following items inside the Examination Centre under any circumstances:
- Smart/digital/programmable/analog watches, timepieces, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands, smart glasses or any other electronic gadgets.
- Any printed/blank/hand-written paper, log tables, writing pads, scales, geometry/pencil-boxes, pouches, calculators, pen drives, electronic pens.
- Wallets, handbags, goggles, handbags, Belt, Cap, etc.
- Any ornaments/metallic items such as ring, bracelet, bands, earrings, nose pin, chain/necklace, pendant, badge, brooch, hair pin, hair band, belt, clothes with big buttons, etc.
JEE Advanced 2026 Dress Code
- You are advised NOT to wear charm/tabeez.
- Candidates are allowed to wear articles or objects of faith, subject to reporting at the centre well in advance to enable frisking. If upon screening, it is discovered that any candidate is actually carrying a suspected device within such item of faith, he/ she may be asked not to take it into the examination hall.
- While light clothing is preferred, candidates are allowed to wear full sleeves or woollens if they feel the need for it, subject to reporting to the centre well in advance to enable frisking.
- Candidates are advised to wear open footwear like chappals and sandals.
Instructions for Candidates
- Candidate must bring their own pen/pencil/eraser
- Candidates can bring their own transparent bottle of water.
- Lab/Hall/Room numbers will not be displayed outside the Test Centre to avoid any crowding at any one place in any situation. Test Centre staff will guide the candidate to respective labs after scanning the bar code on the Admit Card.
- All candidates will be subjected to extensive and compulsory frisking [physical and using highly sensitive metal detectors (HHMD)] before entering the Test Centre.
- Candidates are required to strictly adhere to instructions provided by the Test Centre staff.
- A scribble pad will be kept at each candidateβs desk at the beginning of each paper for use by a candidate for rough work. No additional scribble pad will be provided to the candidate. Candidate must sign the scribble pad after entering her/his name and JEE (Advanced) 2026 Roll Number in the space provided.
- The candidate must mark her/his attendance in each of the papers by signing in beside her/his name in the space provided on the Roll List.
- On completion of a paper, the scribble pad must be handed over to the Invigilator. The candidates will then be permitted to leave the examination hall in an orderly manner - one candidate at a time. Candidates should wait for instructions from the invigilator and not get up from their seats until advised.
