The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will conduct the JEE Advanced 2026 exam on May 17. JEE Advance Admit cards for all registered candidates have been issued and can be downloaded from the website jeeadv.ac.in.

Candidates who have received their CBSE class 12 results and scored below 75% are curious to know whether they are eligible to appear in the IIT JEE Adv 2026 exam.

What does JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2026 Say?

As per the JEE Advanced 2026 information brochure available at the official website, candidates do not need minimum 75% marks in class 12 to appear in JEE Advanced 2026. However, to get admission in IITs General and OBC candidates must secure a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in their Class 12 exam. Candidates belonging to SC and ST categories are required to obtain at least 65% aggregate marks.

The aggregate percentage for JEE Advanced eligibility is calculated across five subjects which include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, one Language subject, and any one additional subject of the candidate's choice.

JEE Advanced 2026 is open only to students who appeared in Class 12 for the first time in 2025 or 2026. Beyond the class 12 score, candidates must also rank within the top 2,50,000 in JEE Main 2026, be born on or after October 1, 2001 (October 1, 2006 for SC/St/PwD), and must not have previously accepted an IIT seat under JoSAA.
