Do I need to attempt all the questions in MHT CET exam?

It is not compulsory to attempt all the question in MHT CET exam. Students are advised to attempt only those questions for which they know the correct answer. Questions for which the answer is not sure should be left. However, as there is NO negative marking in MHT CET exam, questions for which answer is doubtful can be attempted in last. MHT CET Exam: The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra will conduct the state-level Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) in two sessions. As per media reports, session 1 of Maharashtra CET exam for engineering and pharmacy admissions will be held between December 15 to January 15, 2027. Candidates can expect the first MHT CET 2027 notification to be released in late September to early October.

The authorities will conduct MHT CET 2027 for PCM and PCB groups. The total marks for both tests will be 200, while the subject-wise marking scheme is different for both groups. There are discussions of changing the admission process this year and including the class 12th marks for preparation of merit lists. Currently, only the CET scores are used for admissions.

What is MHT CET?

MHT CET is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell for admission to undergraduate engineering, pharmacy and other professional courses offered by participating colleges in Maharashtra.

For engineering admissions, candidates are allotted seats through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP). The allotment is based on the candidate’s MHT CET score, merit rank, category, preferences filled during counselling and seat availability. The examination is being conducted in two attempts, giving candidates an additional opportunity to improve their scores.

Register in MHT CET counselling (CAP)

The counselling process for candidates via MHT CET and other qualifying exams is done via centralised admission process (CAP). The candidates have to register for CAP and check their merit position when merit list is released. Based on the merit position or rank of the candidates in MHT CET merit list, candidates are allotted a seat at various MHT CET CAP participating colleges.

Nationality and Domicile

Candidate must be an Indian citizen. Candidates fulfilling any of the following criteria are considered Maharashtra state domicile candidates:

A candidate who is either a domicile of Maharashtra or born in Maharashtra.
A candidate whose father or mother is domiciled in the State of Maharashtra and holds a Domicile Certificate.
A candidate whose either of the parents is an employee of the Government of India or a Government of India Undertaking (PSUs) and is posted and reported for duty in Maharashtra State.
A candidate whose parents are employees or retired employees of the Government of Maharashtra or a Government of Maharashtra Undertaking (PSUs).
Candidates who have passed the SSC and/or HSC Examination from a disputed Maharashtra-Karnataka Border Area, or Maharashtra, residing in the disputed Maharashtra-Karnataka Border area, and whose mother tongue is Marathi.
Candidates belonging to a specific linguistic or religious minority community from the State of Maharashtra, as notified by the Government, can apply for the MHT CET.

Age Limit:

There is no age limit to apply for MHT CET.

For Non-Maharashtra State Candidates
All the conditions of eligibility are the same for Maharashtra as well as non-Maharashtra candidates.
Candidates who are not from Maharashtra can also appear in the MHT CET. They also have the option to skip MHT CET and apply for BTech admission through JEE Main and BPharm admission via NEET in MHT CET CAP counselling.
In most of the colleges, 85% seats are for Maharashtra State (MS) candidates, and 15% seats are All India Seats.

Also note: OCI/PIO and NRI candidates are exempted from appearing in MHT CET. Such candidates can apply for admission based on class 12/equivalent exams. Separate counselling is held for OCI/PIO/NRI candidates after the admission process of MHT CET.

CET Cell will soon commence the MHT CET 2027 registration for session 1. Candidates have to complete the registration, fill the application form, upload the documents and pay the fee. Students can choose to apply for both PCM and PCB groups or apply for any one of them. The application process involves the following steps:

Getting registered at CET Portal

Register: Visit the official website of the CET cell - cetcell.mahacet.org. Now register using the details asked.
Verify: On submitting the details, a verification email will be sent to the email address. Go to your inbox and click on the verification link.
Login: After verification of the email ID, candidates have to access the MHT CET login 2027, using the registered email ID and the password created during registration.
Proceed to Digilocker: Candidates have to then click on "Proceed to Digilocker" to authenticate themselves with Adhaar and APAAR ID for MHT CET registration process.
Fill application form: After login, the online form will open. Fill in the following details in the form:
- Personal details
- Address
- Other details like domicile, religion, qualifying exam details, etc.
- Submit details: After filling the form, submit the details filled.

Candidates who wish to make changes to the details submitted in the form have to log in to the portal using their registered email ID and password. Add Subject Group: Candidates can also add subject group PCM or PCB if they missed adding it while filling application form. The candidate must pay the application fee along with late fee for the new subject group added.

Note: In case, the candidate has forgotten the password and cannot access their application for correction, they should click on link that says “I cannot access my account” in the login page to reset their password.

How to Prepare for MHT CET 2027?

MHT CET 2027 exam difficulty is at par with the difficulty level of the JEE Main exam. Therefore, candidates who are also under JEE Main 2027 preparation can simultaneously prepare for the MHT CET 2027 exam.

Focus on practising a lot of previous year papers and taking mock exams.
Identify the high weightage chapters from the MHT CET 2027 syllabus and prepare those topics with high priority.
Start preparing for the exam as soon as possible. The syllabus is vast, and all topics should be covered to ace the MHT CET 2027 exam.

Maharashtra CET Syllabus 2027

CET Cell will release the MHT CET 2027 syllabus online. For PCB group, the syllabus is based on Physics, Chemistry and Biology of classes 11th and 12th and for the PCM group, it is based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 80% of the questions in the exam is based on class 12th topics, while the remaining 20% of the weightage is given to class 11th topics. MHT CET Hall Ticket

The Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell will issue a provisional and final MHT CET 2027 admit card for both PCM and PCB group candidates. Registered students will have to use their email ID and password to access the MHT CET hall ticket 2027. Students must carry a printout of the final admit card to the exam centre on the day of the test.

The admit card will have information about exam date and time, the test centre address, the paper for which the candidate is appearing, the candidate's name, photograph, and signature. If the MHT CET hall ticket has any errors, candidates have to download the unconditional undertaking form, fill it and report to the centres along with their hall ticket and undertaking.

Allotment of MHT CET 2027 Exam Centres

The MHT CET exam will be conducted in the state of Maharashtra only. Earlier, the MHT CET exam centres were located outside the state as well. The decision was taken by the state authorities to strengthen the security and integrity of the entrance exam. In the past, there have been reports of irregularities at some out-of-state centres. This raised concerns regarding the transparency and conduct of the exam. Which is why it has been decided that the exam will only be conducted in Maharashtra.

Candidates are allotted an exam centre based on the choices of exam city filled by the candidate at the time of filling the application form. The exam city once allotted cannot be changed. It is thus advised that candidates fill the exam city preference in the application form carefully.

MHT CET 2027 Answer Key

The final MHT CET 2027 answer key will be released for both attempts for PCM and PCB groups. Through the answer key, students can check the correct answers and check which objections have been accepted. Using the answer key, candidates can calculate their expected score in the exam. How to Download MHT CET 2027 Answer Key?

Candidates can challenge the provisional answer key. To submit the challenges, students must use the MHT CET objection tracker window. MHT CET 2027 Merit List and Ranks

After the results are announced, candidates have to register at the MHT CET 2027 CAP counselling portal. The CET Cell then release a merit list of all candidates who register for the counselling.

Provisional MHT CET merit list 2027: CET Cell first releases the provisional MHT CET merit list. This merit list is open for feedback. If there is any change in the marks of the candidates, they can notify the CET cell. The feedbacks are then verified to make necessary changes in the merit lists, if needed.

Final MHT CET 2027 merit list: A final merit list is uploaded after checking all the grievances from the candidates in the provisional merit list. This merit list will be final, and the seats via the MHT CET CAP 2027 counselling will be allotted based on the merit position of the candidates in this final list.

MHT CET CAP 2027 Counselling

The Maharashtra CET Cell conducts the MHT CET counselling. The counselling process is referred to as the MHT CET Centralised Admission Process (CAP). All candidates with a non-zero MHT CET score had to register for the MHT CET CAP counselling for admission. The registered candidates are then allotted a merit number in the MHT CET merit list.

Candidates whose names appear in the MHT CET merit list can participate in the counselling by filling choices of college and courses. The allotment of seats will be made based on the ranks of the candidates in the MHT CET merit list. The CET Cell will conduct four rounds of CAP counselling.
