Step by Step Mock Test Strategy and Post Test Analysis

JEE Advanced exam tests physical and mental endurance as much as concepts. To get the best score in actual exam, candidates must solve mock papers in a planned manner to get the best outcome and achive your desired rank.

Strategy to Solve JEE Advanced Mock Test

Some important strategy while solving mock test are

  • Solve papers in a real exam like conditions - two mock test in a single day from 8 am to 12 pm and 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
  • Decide which subject to solve first and assign a time limit. It is suggested to solve Chemistry first with 35 to 40 min timeline, followed by Physics in 50 to 60 min and Maths in last in another 50 to 60 min. Always allot 20 to 30 min for paper review.
  • Check marking scheme of all three subjects as well as question types
  • Make a plan for solving each type of questions.
    • Multiple Correct: Mark answer those only for which you're 100% certain
    • Matching Type: Use option elimination method to arrive at best match
    • Integer Type: Always check how answers are to be written - roundoff to 2 figures or nearest integer

Post Test Analysis

Analysis of result after taking mock is very important as it helps evaluate the mistakes.

Error Category

Possible Reason

Corrective Action

Partial Marking Trap

Selected an uncertain 3rd/4th option in Multi-Correct and got negative mark

Mark answers only when 100% sure on all multi-correct questions for the next mock exams.

Paper 2 Fatigue Slump

High accuracy in Paper 1, drop in accuracy/attempts in Paper 2

Build 6-hour sitting tolerance by doing weekly 2-paper mock sessions

Multi-Topic Integration Gap

Failed to connect concepts across chapters (e.g., Mechanics + Thermodynamics, Calculus + Vectors)

Solve 20 to 30 Advanced questions PYQs that combine two or more chapters.

Numerical Precision Error

Correct steps, but calculation error or wrong decimal rounding

Write step-by-step intermediate calculations clearly on rough sheet instead of doing mental math.

Misread Pattern Instructions

Did not notice negative marking changes or non-standard marking criteria

Spend the first 2 minutes of each paper for reading marking scheme variations.

JEE Advanced 2027 Mock Test FAQs

Check below some of the most frequently asked questions on JEE Advanced mock tests:

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   Is the JEE Advanced exam held in regional languages also?
A:

As of now, the JEE Advanced exam is held in two language only - Hindi and English. The exam is not held in other regional languages.

Q:   In what mode is the JEE Advanced exam held?
A:

The JEE Advanced exam is held in computer based test mode. The exam is not held in offline mode. Candidates have to visit the allotted exam centre to take the exam. The allotted exam centre will be mentioned on the admit card of JEE Advanced issued to the caandidates a week before the exam.

Q:   How to prepare for JEE Mains 2nd attempt as well as JEE Advanced simultaneously also BITSAT and CET at the same time?
A:

You can prepare for all entrance tests at same time. It is a tough task but not impossible. For this a proper strategy is required. Here are some important tips.

  • Compare the syllabus: All engineering entrance exams have almost the same syllabus. There might be some additional topics in some exams. The aspirant must study the syllabus for all exams and find out the topics that are extra, and prepare those separately. Almost 90% of the topics will be common for all entrance exams, and hence, syllabus completion for one exam will lead to completion of the syllabus for all the exams.
  • Prepare for JEE Mains and incorporate the preparation for all other exams: Apart from JEE Advanced, all the exams are pretty straightforward for a well-prepared candidate. JEE Advanced require a higher level of preparation as the questions are multi-conceptual. However, the state-level entrance exams, and exams like BITSAT, VITEEE, etc., have direct questions. Most of the questions in JEE Mains are also direct and require the application of basic concepts. Hence, the candidates must prepare for one exam, like JEE Mains, that will cover their preparation for all other exams.
  • JEE Advanced needs extra effort: For JEE Advanced candidates must focus on time management and building exam day temperament. Learn how to apply multiple concepts to a question.

The bottom line is to prepare for JEE Mains to cover the preparation for all other CETs and exams like BITSAT and VITEEE. For JEE Advanced, work on sharpening your skills of time management, stress handling, multiple concept application, speed and accuracy.

Q:   Has the JEE Advanced syllabus changed?
A:
