JEE Advanced 2025 Topper Interview: Majid Mujahid Husain secured All-India Rank (AIR) 3 with an overall SCORD of 330 out of 350. Aspiring to pursue Computer Science at IIT Bombay, he aims to become a software engineer. Majid maintained a disciplined routine, dedicating 12 to 14 hours a day to his studies, especially during holidays. He effectively balanced coaching classes, mock tests, and regular revisions. His strategy focused on consistency, solving previous years’ papers, and learning from his mistakes.

Q: What was your initial reaction when you saw your result and realized you were among the toppers?

Majid: My initial reaction when I saw my result and realized I was among the toppers was a bit of a surprise. You see, the result was unexpected, no one expected an All-India Rank 3. I was satisfied with the rank because I had never expected that level of result.

Q: Tell us something about yourself. Which board have you studied under? Which school did you study in?

Majid: I studied at Macro Vision Academy, a CBSE Board school in Burhanpur, Hatnur, Madhya Pradesh. Beyond studies, I like to indulge in sports and I believe I am decently good at playing chess.

Q: What is your score in JEE Advanced 2025? Which college and branch will you be opting for?

Majid: I scored 330 marks. 116 out of 120 in Math, 108 in Physics, and 106 in Chemistry. Overall, the score was 330 out of 350. Then I secured All-India Rank 3. I want to pursue a course in Computer Science at IIT Bombay, and I want to become a software engineer.

Q: When did you start your JEE Advanced preparation? Tell us something about your preparation strategy and daily routine for JEE Advanced?

Majid: I began JEE preparation in Class 10 through self-study and adopted a more structured approach with coaching in Class 11. For two years, I maintained a disciplined routine, studying 12 to 14 hours a day, especially during holidays, balancing coaching, mock tests, and revisions. I focused on consistency, solving past papers, and learning from mistakes. There was nothing extraordinary about my journey, just rigorous practice, clear goals, and relentless hard work.

Q: Which subject did you find most challenging, and how did you overcome those hurdles?

Majid: Initially, Physics was the most challenging subject for me. I overcame this by dedicating more time to conceptual clarity, solving a variety of problems, and regularly analysing errors in mock tests.  

Q: How did you manage stress and stay motivated throughout the preparation journey?

Majid: A major challenge was balancing board exams with JEE Advanced prep, especially in the final phase but I managed both well and scored decently. Dealing with demotivation was tough too, especially after low mock test scores or under pressure. Weekly conversations with my parents and support from teachers helped me stay motivated. The encouragement from my school and the desire to make them proud also pushed me to keep going and aim for a good rank.

Q: Did you rely more on coaching institutes, self-study, or a mix of both? What worked best for you?

Majid: From the last time, I started my research where I was immediately focused on self-study. But if I say, preparation started from Class 11 when I joined Macro Vision Academy. Along with that, I used to do self-study for almost the whole day, at least 8 to 10 hours. So, it was a mix of both, but mostly self-study worked best for me.

Question: What role did mock tests and previous years’ papers play in your preparation?

Majid: Initially, I didn’t know much about the exam, but over time, I gathered information, took more tests, and gradually improved my scores. It was tough at times, especially after low mock test results or dealing with the pressure as a student. What helped me stay on track was the regular support from my teachers and weekly conversations with my parents, which kept me motivated throughout.

Q: Were there any specific books, online platforms, or resources you found particularly helpful?

Majid: During self-study, I used online resources like PhysicsWallah and doubt-solving platforms whenever I faced difficulties. I also took help from teachers and practised with test papers, managing the rest through consistent self-study.

Q: What advice would you give to students preparing for JEE Advanced 2026?

Majid: Nothing special in the preparation. I have done nothing extraordinary, but nothing is possible here without being consistent. You have to set a goal at a given time and follow it rigorously. Do rigorous practice and hard work, and let the results follow.
