Chief Justice of India NV Ramana addressed the valedictory session at the Hyderabad Book Fair recently. During the session, the Chief Justice of India talked about the overall development of students and said that state governments must make sure that every school or college has a library and a playground that would help develop students. Putting emphasis on the importance of libraries and playgrounds, the CJI further talked about how book-reading is a good habit as it leaves an imprint in minds while playing sports increases sporting spirit among children. Raman further added, "I don't think there are libraries in schools and colleges anymore. For any school or college to be set up, library is a must. This rule nobody is following." "Same is the case with playgrounds. This is a serious issue. Governments should involve and solve this issue," the CJI said.

The CJI remembered the key roles played by literature writers in several struggles across the globe, including the Indian freedom movement. He also discussed the tendency of freedom fighters to voraciously read, he further recounted that many Indian freedom fighters used to read and write a lot while they were languishing in prisons.
Talking about the book that influenced him the most, the CJI said that Maxim Gorky's novel 'Mother' influenced him a lot and that he had read it several times.
