Free education for government school students of Classes 9 to 12: Haryana Government
Announcing the decision of the state government, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, during the presentation of the budget for the fiscal year 2021-22, informed that the initiative is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020).
Free Education in Haryana: The Government of Haryana recently decided to impart free education to the students of Classes 9 to 12 studying in government schools in the state. Announcing the decision of the state government, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, during the presentation of the budget for the fiscal year 2021-22, informed that the initiative is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). A fund of Rs 18, 410 crores has been allocated by the state government this year to the education sector. Out of the total amount, Rs 678 Crores have been allocated to technical education and industrial training.
Eight New Medical Colleges
Apart from providing free education to school students, the government is also mulling to facilitate medical studies by setting up eight new medical colleges in the state. According to the information shared by the government, the new medical colleges will be opened in Jind, Kaithal, Yamunanagar, Faridabad, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh and Sirsa and a dental college at the hospital in Nuh.
KG To PG Scheme/ Nursery to Varsity Plan
The state government also proposed a unified educational structure with its ‘KG to PG’ scheme or ‘nursery to varsity plan’, under which the students from the pre-primary level to the postgraduate level are expected to be accommodated within the same institution or educational building. Reports suggest that this new educational scheme will be launched in two prominent universities of the state, i.e. Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) and Kurukshetra University. The government also plans to set up around 125 soil testing laboratories in government senior secondary schools, colleges, technical universities and institutions during 2021-22. As a part of its curriculum, the students of Agriculture and Horticulture Universities will have to take part in the field activities as well.
