To ensure quality education for tribal students, the ministry said, every block with more than 50 percent tribal population and at least 20,000 ST persons will have an Eklavya Model school.
In order to impart quality education with an emphasis on the holistic development of tribal students living in remote blocks across the country, the ministry of tribal affairs has decided to set up 740 Eklavya Model Residential Schools. The schools will benefit more than 3.5 lakh Scheduled Caste (ST) students.
Currently, there are 1,05,000 students enrolled in 392 Eklavya Model Residential schools. To ensure quality education for tribal students, the ministry said, every block with more than 50 percent tribal population and at least 20,000 ST persons will have an Eklavya Model school.
The Centre of Excellence for sports will also be set up. The ministry will also partner with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Microsoft India, the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship (MDSE), Khadii and Village Industries Commission, Art of Living, IAPT for capacity building of staff.
On Janjatiya Gaurav Divas 2022, the ministry said that the repository of research work monitoring at the tribal institute has been shifted from manual to online.
The government has set up the National Tribal Research Institute under the preservation and promotion of tribal culture and heritage. “Tribal Research Institutes are engaged in research for making policy for the development of tribal and tribal areas. The Ministry has prepared a digital repository of research undertaken by TRIS,” it said.
