AICTE has sprung into action following a letter from the Ministry of Education apprising it about some African students facing difficulties in the renewal of VISA and extension of stay, etc. due to delay

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has instructed vice-chancellors of technical universities and heads of other technical institutions to timely issue the degree of African students who come to study at their institution.

The delay in the issuance of degrees is causing problems to students in the extension of their VISA and stay. The technical education regulatory has asked institutions to take appropriate action with respect to the issuance of degrees or diplomas to foreign students on time.

The AICTE has issued the letter after the Ministry of Education brought to their notice that African students in general and Congolese students, in particular, are facing difficulties in the renewal of VISA and extension of stay, etc. due to delay in issuance of their degrees after completion of the programme in India.

Keeping in view the gravity of the issue, the AICTE has asked institutions to take appropriate action, so that degrees, diplomas are issued in time and students may not face any problem for pursuing higher studies in India and abroad.
