DDUGU to Launch Work-Linked Degree Programs aligned with the NEP 2020
Varsity has introduced five new courses: BBA, B.Com (Hons), MA English, MBA, and M.Com (Hons), comprising two undergraduate and three postgraduate programs.
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDUGU) has announced launch of work-linked degree programmes to align with goals of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. With this move, the university has become the first in eastern Uttar Pradesh to start courses that combine classroom learning with hands-on industry experience.
Five new programmes have been introduced under this model, BBA and B.Com (Hons) at the undergraduate level, and MA English, MBA, and M.Com (Hons) at the postgraduate level. These courses are designed to help students gain work experience while continuing their studies, making them more employable by the time they graduate.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Poonam Tandon said the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to practical education. She added that students will now have opportunities to learn directly from workplace exposure rather than depending only on textbooks and theory.
For this initiative, DDUGU has partnered with TeamLease EdTech to integrate work opportunities into the curriculum. The model will also allow students to earn a stipend during their training, supporting NEP 2020 vision of linking education with employability and real world skills.
Varsity believes this approach will help students develop a stronger connection between their studies and professional goals. It is also expected to set an example for other higher education institutions to adopt similar work-integrated programmes in future.
