Delhi University Introduces Exit Option After 3rd Year, Boosting Flexibility in UG Admissions 2025

The notification invites students enrolled in the four-year UGCF 2022 programs to submit their intent to exit after three years via the university’s student portal (https://ugcf.du.ac.in).
The University of Delhi (DU) has rolled out a new notification allowing students to exit after their third year under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022. This move aligns with the implementation of the four-year undergraduate degree program, set to commence from the 2025-2026 academic session.
As per a notice shared by the University, the decision reflects DU’s commitment to providing flexible educational pathways as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.A Step Towards Student-Centric Education.
The notification invites students enrolled in the four-year UGCF 2022 programs to submit their intent to exit after three years via the university’s student portal (https://ugcf.du.ac.in). This option is designed to cater to students who may prefer a three-year degree while ensuring academic rigor and eligibility for subsequent opportunities. The university encourages collaboration between students, teachers, and mentors to make informed decisions, offering enhanced autonomy over educational trajectories.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh has championed this flexibility, as highlighted in an earlier interview with Shiksha.com. He described the fourth year as a "good step for the growth of students," emphasizing its role in shaping them into "bright citizens."
DU Admissions 2025: UG and PG Opportunities Open
As the academic year gears up, DU has opened admissions for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs. Prospective students can reach out via dedicated email IDs—ug@admission.du.ac.in for UG and pg@admission.du.ac.in for PG—along with a robust helpdesk featuring numbers like +91 9240259295 to +91 9240259340, as listed on the official DU admission portal (admission.uod.ac.in). This streamlined process aims to accommodate the increased interest following the UGCF 2022 rollout.
The university has also introduced an '8 to 8' teaching schedule to manage the expanded curriculum, a directive from the University Grants Commission (UGC). This adjustment supports the four-year structure while ensuring faculty receive additional incentives, such as Rs 50,000 for extra courses, as noted by the VC.
