DU’s Strategic Plan Crucial for a Developed India: Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh
The strategic goals of DU 2047 include improving student education and experience, fostering world-class research, and building stronger ties between the university community and external institutions, including industries and global academic partnerships.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh emphasized the critical role of the University of Delhi's Strategic Plan 2024-2047 in contributing to India's development. Speaking at the 102th Academic Council meeting, Prof. Singh highlighted the vision to make DU an internationally acclaimed university recognized for excellence in teaching, research, and outreach.
Prof. Singh stated, “DU's strategic plan is very important for its role in developed India. The vision of the University of Delhi is to become an internationally acclaimed university, recognized for excellence in teaching, research, and outreach; provide the highest quality education to students, nurture their talent, promote intellectual growth, and shape their personal development; remain dedicated and steadfast in the pursuit of truth and serve humanity through the creation of well-rounded, multi-skilled, and socially responsible global citizens.”
He elaborated on the long-term significance of the plan, stating that it will steer the university's efforts in preparing multi-skilled professionals to address India’s needs in the coming decades. By 2047, DU envisions playing a crucial role in national development by producing scientists, engineers, doctors, historians, and leaders who will contribute to nation-building.
Prof. Singh explained that the strategic plan is a systematic process, designed to ensure that DU remains important, sustainable, and accountable in the future. “We have to decide our role in building a developed India,” he said, adding that the plan will help shape the university’s position as a leading multi-disciplinary research university, contributing to the economic, social, and cultural benefits of the country. Excellence, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit will be at the core of this strategy.

The plan also outlines DU's commitment to global impact, focusing on branding, resource creation, philanthropy, and globalization to achieve its goals.
In addition to the strategic plan, the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) was also discussed at the meeting. The Vice Chancellor has been authorized to finalize the IDP, which will focus on setting clear priorities for mission-critical work and long-term initiatives. A committee has been formed to review the draft of the IDP and present it to the Vice Chancellor for further discussion.
