Education Minister meets officials for faster implementation of NEP 2020
NEP replaces the 30-year-old education policy, National Policy on Education introduced in 1986
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed progress related to the implementation of the new National Education Policy 2020 (NEP). Pradhan held a meeting with officials of the ministry on NEP linked initiatives.
The NEP 2020 was announced in July 2020 to revamp the school and higher education sector in the country. NEP replaces the 30-year-old education policy, National Policy on Education introduced in 1986.
During the meeting, the education minister discussed the faster implementation of provisions of the policy with the ministry officials. Pradhan wrote on Twitter: βReviewed the status of implementation of National Education Policy. A number of NEP-linked initiatives have already been rolled out with more on the anvil. Also discussed the path ahead for fast-tracking implementation.β
He further wrote: βNEP2020 will lay the foundation of a 21st century India. With a futuristic vision, local connect and global outlook, we are working towards translating the vision of NEP into reality and developing a more vibrant education ecosystem.β
Professional education in local languages
The education minister also reviewed the report of the task force on imparting professional education in local languages. βGoing forward, we look towards greater integration of local languages in professional education in line with the #NEP2020,β Pradhan wrote on Twitter.
