Leadership coach says confidence, communication, and clarity are key to workplace impact

“Executive presence is not about looking a certain way—it’s about making a lasting impact,” said leadership coach and author Samira Gupta at the launch of her latest book, Executive Presence: Build Gravitas with the 3Ps – Poise, Power & Performance.

Gupta, who has spent over a decade coaching business leaders and professionals across industries, said the book is rooted in the idea that qualities like clarity, confidence, and composure are not innate but can be built through conscious practice and self-awareness.

“This book is a reflection of my mission to help individuals lead with authenticity and strategic presence. Executive presence goes beyond image—it’s about influencing outcomes, building trust, and navigating challenges with composure,” she told attendees.

A Structured Approach to Presence and Leadership

The book offers a practical framework based on the “3Ps” – Poise, Power, and Performance:

Poise focuses on inner stability, resilience, and the ability to remain composed under pressure.

Power covers strategic communication, decision-making, and interpersonal influence.

Performance emphasises goal orientation, adaptability, and building trust through consistency.

According to the author, the book is not positioned only for senior executives but is equally relevant for young professionals and students preparing to enter competitive workplaces.

Concepts Drawn from Psychology and Real-World Practice

Drawing on insights from leadership psychology, communication theory, and real-life corporate coaching experience, the book outlines tools such as decision-making frameworks (like the Six Thinking Hats and 10-10-10 rule), emotional intelligence development, and non-verbal communication techniques to help readers develop both their internal clarity and external impact.

It also addresses the visible and invisible elements of presence—appearance, etiquette, voice, listening skills, and emotional stability—connecting them to trust, influence, and leadership readiness.

Relevance to Career Starters and Institutions

With employability and workplace readiness becoming key concerns in higher education, the book’s themes around confidence, influence, and adaptability resonate with current soft skills training programmes and campus-to-corporate initiatives. Gupta said these qualities are increasingly becoming core expectations for fresh graduates and young hires.

“Leadership today isn’t just about leading others—it’s about self-regulation, reflection, and being able to create a meaningful connection. These are skills students can start developing early,” she added.
