Operation Sindoor: DU will also provide all possible support and cooperation to the Government of India

During the 1022nd Academic Council (AC) meeting, University of Delhi Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh directed the principals of all affiliated colleges to prioritise permanent appointments over hiring guest faculty. He urged colleges to issue advertisements for vacant positions promptly and to adopt the appointment process at least once or twice a year, especially keeping future retirements in mind.

Regarding the pending appointment process in 12 Delhi Government colleges, the Vice Chancellor said talks are ongoing and a positive outcome is expected soon.

In a significant show of solidarity amidst the tense situation between India and Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, the University of Delhi also passed a resolution to stand firmly with the Government of India and extend all possible support. The resolution, proposed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh and passed unanimously, stated that the University fraternity supports the armed forces, the government, and the citizens during this critical period.

Prof. Singh emphasised that this was a challenging time for the soldiers and the nation, and it was essential for all institutions to unite in support. โ€œThe University of Delhi extends every possible support and cooperation to the Government of India as may be necessary during this time,โ€ the resolution affirmed.

Further, the AC approved a series of academic updates:

New skill enhancement courses such as Robotics & Automation, Introduction to IoT using Arduino, and Low-Code/No-Code Development were added under the UGCF 2022 framework.

Approvals were granted for the inclusion of new forensic science-related courses under the Biomedical Sciences subdomain.

The council also cleared the way for new certificate-level language courses in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean under the Department of Distance and Continuing Education.

Additionally, it was decided that Persian, Arabic, and Urdu texts in the respective syllabi would be translated into English to ensure broader accessibility.
