Kerala School Reopening 2022

Kerala schools summer vacation 2022 is all set to conclude. According to the schedule, the schools will reopen on June 1. Ahead of the school reopening, considering the ongoing pandemic situation, Education Minister Vasudevan Sivankutty has announced that masks are mandatory on the school premises. It is likely that approximately 42.9 lakh students will head to the school campuses from June 1.

Education Ministry releases guidelines ahead of school reopening

Apart from the mandatory mask mandate, a set of guidelines have also been released by the Education Ministry in regards to school reopening amid the pandemic situation. Vaccination of eligible students at the school in the first two weeks of June is included in the guidelines.

Education Officers have received directions to inspect all schools, assess the preparedness, and submit a report to the seniors by May 31. Before reopening, schools are required to receive fitness certificates from the local bodies. After discussion and considering public opinion, Education Department will also share the academic master plan on May 30.

School Reopening Guidelines 2022

  • Schools have been directed to complete all the maintenance work within the schools by Friday.
  • Thorough cleaning of the school, classrooms, premises and the drinking water sources is compulsory.
  • Schools have to ensure that no snakes or other reptiles are lurking around on the campus.
  • Cut down trees/ tree branches that pose a threat to the safety of the students. In case of precarious electric lines, schools should contact KSEB and ensure that the issue is resolved.
  • Transportation vehicles at schools used for students should secure a police clearance certificate.
  • Schools must ensure the installation of traffic signboards near the schools with the help of the traffic police. Seek the services of the police to ensure that narcotics and other prohibited substances are not sold in the nearby shops.
  • School-level meetings should be held in the presence of representatives of the local bodies, health department, KSRTC, KSEB, excise and social justice department.
  • Schools must contact parents if students do not show up for classes. If the student had left home, the class teacher must inform the police.
