Teach students their rights and ways to protect them
The statement was recorded during a discussion on submission by CPI MLA V R Sunil Kumar in the state assembly on Monday school children should be taught about various laws, like the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and legal provisions against dowry and use of drugs.
He further added that it is necessary to teach these laws and the punishment provided under them for various offences to schoolchildren from high school onwards so that by the time they pass out from class 12, they are aware what is legal and what is not.
