CLAT 2025 Result: The Delhi High Court will likely announce its verdict on the UG Batch petitions challenging the CLAT 2025 results today. The Court will resume hearing the PG CLAT 2025-related petitions soon. It is expected that along with CLAT PG 2025 hearing, the court will also announce the CLAT UG verdict. With the counselling process currently on hold, the court's decision is expected to play a crucial role in determining the next steps for CLAT 2025 admissions.
CLAT 2025 Result Hearing: The Delhi High Court will resume the CLAT Result Hearing today; i.e. April 22, 2025. Earlier, the court reserved its judgment on a batch of petitions challenging the CLAT UG 2025 examination results. The HC is expected to announce its final verdict on CLAT 2025 Exam soon. The hearing of pleas related to the CLAT PG 2025 results will also be resumed.
On April 9, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela heard the undergraduate-related petitions, raising concerns about alleged CLAT 2025 question papers and answer key errors. The bench emphasized its intent to conclude the matter promptly, particularly given the urgency associated with undergraduate admissions. The court noted that issues concerning the postgraduate exam would be addressed in a separate hearing.
In a previous hearing, the court had advised the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to appoint “better paper setters in the future” to prevent such discrepancies. The CLAT 2025 exam was held on December 1, and results were declared on December 7.
During the hearing, the bench remarked that at least one question from the UG paper should be discarded. Senior advocate Rajshekhar Rao, representing the Consortium, also suggested withdrawing that particular question due to its flawed design. Among the disputed items was a logical reasoning question about homeless people, which generated divided opinions among subject experts.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had transferred all CLAT 2025-related petitions to a division bench of the Delhi High Court to avoid conflicting rulings. Although the apex court initially considered transferring the matter to the Punjab and Haryana High Court—where the first petition was filed—the Consortium requested that all cases be consolidated either in the Supreme Court or assigned to a single high court.
Both the aspirants and the Consortium opposed an earlier order of the Delhi High Court. The Consortium argued that the single-judge bench should not have interfered with the expert-prepared answer key. However, a division bench declined to stay the single-judge ruling or provide interim relief. It found no prima facie error in the judgment and directed the Consortium to revise and declare the CLAT results accordingly.
On December 20, 2024, the Delhi High Court ordered the Consortium to revise the CLAT UG 2025 results due to errors in the answer key. The court held that answers to two questions were incorrect and directed the Consortium to declare corrected results. The CLAT 2025 exam was held for admission to five-year integrated LLB programs offered by NLUs, with results initially declared on December 7.

In February, the Supreme Court ordered the transfer of all petitions challenging the CLAT 2025 results to the Delhi High Court to ensure a faster and more coordinated legal process. The bench noted that similar petitions were pending across several high courts—including Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta, Bombay, and Punjab & Haryana. To prevent conflicting judgments and streamline the adjudication, the SC consolidated all cases under one jurisdiction.

What are Freeze, Float and Exit options in CLAT 2025 counselling?
During CLAT counselling, candidates will be provided the option to choose from three options; i.e. freeze, float and exit. Candidates can understand all options below:
Freeze Option: In case a candidate is happy with the seat alloted to him/her then they can freeze it. With this they won't be allowed to appear in the further rounds of counselling. If a candidate freezes the seat, it means that the candidate is confirming their seat at the allotted National Law University (NLU).
Float Option: If a candidate is not happy with the seat allotted to them and wants to pariticpate in further rounds of counselling they can select the float option. This option mean that candidate is accepting the seat allotted to them but is willing to pariticpate in further rouns of counselling for a better college. Candidate must note that in case they choose the float option and is allotted a seat in the next round then the seat allotted in the previous round will be forfeited.
Exit Option: During the counselling process, if a candidate feels that they don't want to pariticipate further, then they may choose an option to exit. If they choose this option, it means that they are withdrawing from the counselling process and they will not be considered for further round of counselling.
