Madhya Pradesh UG, PG exams scrapped, students to be promoted
Madhya Pradesh government has decided not to hold any final year exams for both UG and PG courses. Students to be marked on an internal assessment basis.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that the government has decided to cancel the final year exams of both Under Graduate (UG) and Post Graduate (PG) courses. Final year or semester students will be marked on the basis of the highest marks they have obtained in the previous years or semester.
In case, the students want to improve their marks, they can do the same by appearing for pen-and-paper exams later. The dates for these exams will be announced later.
First and second-year students of UG courses and second-semester students of PG courses will also be promoted to the next year or semester on the basis of previous year's or semester's performance or internal assessment, the Chief Minister added.
While making this announcement through Twitter, he also said that the review regarding the reopening of schools to be done on July 31.
“Exams to be held once again for students who could not write their class 12th examinations due to any reason,” the chief minister said.
Since March 16, the educational institutions across the country have been closed in view of the preventive measures installed to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier announced that the decision on reopening of schools and colleges will be taken after a meeting with the stakeholders in July.
Earlier in May, the state government had said that it will be conducting the final year or semester exams for graduate, post-graduate and other courses for all universities in Madhya Pradesh from June 29 and July 31.
However, with the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the country, the government has decided to scrap the exam and mark students on an internal assessment basis.
