The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has announced that it has decided to scrap the Essay Writing or WAT conducted from April 24 to May 16 from the IIFT admission process 2021. The online Extempore and Personal Interview for admission to IIFT’s MBA International Business batch of 2021-22 was conducted from between these dates.
In an official notification released by the IIFT Delhi, it has been communicated that the WAT or Essay Writing conducted from April 24 to May 16 is being scrapped.
"Reference admission process for admitting candidates to full time MBA Programme of IIFT. The Institute after due consideration has decided to scrap element of WAT (Essay Writing Test). Therefore, WATs held on 24.4.2021 and 16.5.2021 stand nullified and inconsequential,"the notice said.

Earlier, 141 shortlisted candidates who could not participate in the online WAT/PI from April 24 to May 16, due to medical and other reasons, have requested the institute to reschedule their personal interview. The Institute has received mails from candidates who have requested to hold the interviews/extempore at a later date so that they could also appear. The IIFT will be conducting interviews of such candidates after May 19. The schedule will be announced soon.

IIFT admission process 2021 includes Essay Writing, Extempore and Personal Interview which are being conducted online this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. This year, the Group Discussion (GD) round is not being conducted due to the same reason. The selection of candidates for Essay Writing, Extempore and Personal Interview is based on performance in IIFT entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the institute. The institute accepts application for admission from foreign/NRI/PIO candidates on the basis of GMAT score.
The IIFT 2021 entrance exam was conducted on January 24 in single shift and the result was announced on February 16. The first IIFT 2021 shortlist was announced on March 12 in which a total of 2672 candidates were selected for WAT-PI-Extempore round of IIFT admission 2021. The second shortlist of 32 qualifying students was released on March 19.
