As part of the Yuva Sangam Phase-V initiative under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu recently hosted a delegation of students and faculty from the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chennai. The five-day visit aimed at promoting cultural exchange, knowledge sharing, and mutual understanding between the regions of Jammu & Kashmir and Tamil Nadu.
The event, presided over by Professor B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, welcomed 40 participants from Chennai, including 20 male and 20 female students, accompanied by 2 faculty members from NITTTR Chennai. The program was designed to offer a holistic experience encompassing cultural, historical, and educational enrichment.
Warm Welcome and Campus Introduction
The visit kicked off with a warm welcome from IIM Jammu’s Director, Professor B.S. Sahay. The delegates were introduced to the institute’s journey through a captivating campus audiovisual presentation. An outline of activities for the five-day program was shared with the participants, which promised a diverse and enriching experience. The welcome session also saw the presence of Professor Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, Dr. V. Rajkumar, Chairperson of Student Affairs, Dr. Apurva, Co-Chairperson of Student Affairs, and faculty members Dr. Sudarshan and Dr. Jacqueline Divya Mary from NITTTR Chennai.
Exploring Jammu's Heritage and Technological Advancements
The five-day program included several enriching activities designed to foster a deeper understanding of Jammu’s rich heritage, culture, and technological advancements. Participants visited iconic landmarks such as the Raghunath Temple, Amar Mahal Palace Museum, and the Suchetgarh Border, gaining valuable insights into the region's cultural history.
Additionally, the program included visits to significant development and engineering landmarks such as the Salal Hydroelectric Project and the Chenab Rail Bridge—the world’s highest railway bridge—showcasing the technological strides made by the region. Cultural exchange was further promoted through interactive programs at Jammu University and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), where participants engaged with students and faculty, building connections between the two regions.
Promoting Sustainability and Environmental Consciousness
The final day of the program featured a plantation drive at IIM Jammu, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and environmental awareness. This initiative allowed the participants to actively contribute to the cause of preserving the environment while also engaging with IIM Jammu’s commitment to social responsibility.
Visits to Nalanda Library and IIM Jammu's Academic Facilities
On the first day, the delegation was also taken on a tour of IIM Jammu's state-of-the-art Nalanda Library. The visit provided the students and faculty with an opportunity to explore the institute's academic and research facilities, reinforcing IIM Jammu's commitment to academic excellence and intellectual growth.

The five-day cultural exchange program not only provided an enriching opportunity for participants to explore Jammu & Kashmir’s heritage but also fostered meaningful connections between the delegates. By celebrating India’s unity in diversity, the program strengthened the bond between the regions and embodied the true spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
IIM Jammu’s seamless coordination of the event, under the Student Affairs Office, reflects the institution’s commitment to promoting national integration, cultural exchange, and holistic development.
