MAT 2022 exam will be held tomorrow in CBT mode. The exam will be held at designated examination centres. Candidates must have downloaded their MAT 2022 admit cards already so they know their exam timings and exam centre location. They should reach their MAT 2022 test centre as per the reporting time mentioned in their admit cards. That’s the most important thing to do as late comers will not be permitted to enter the venue.
Apart from that, it is very important to be prepared for the MAT exam day. If you are not well aware and prepared for it, then the exam preparation may go for a waste. So, here are some key MAT exam day tips and tricks for you to keep in mind and use.
MAT 2022: Key Tips and Tricks
- Carry Relevant Documents: The most important thing to do is to carry the important documents that will be needed for candidate identification at the exam centre. You must carry 2 colour printouts of your CBT admit card in AZ-size sheet and a valid ID proof issued by the Government of India – Passport/PAN card/Aadhaar card/Voter ID/Driving Licence. Also carry a few copies for your passport size photo.
- Carry Relevant Items: You must carry a black/blue ball point pen for signing the attendance sheet and rough work. Apart from that, carry a 50 ml bottle of hand sanitizer, face mask, gloves and personal drinking water. Do not carry an electronic items, metal items or valuables.
- Solve Easy Questions First: Once the MAT CBT starts, read the instructions carefully before starting to solve the paper. Solve the easy questions first so that you have enough time to focus on tough questions late on.
- Divide Time Among the Sections: There is no sectional-time limit in MAT, so you need to divide 250 minutes among all five sections yourself by keeping in mind your strengths and weaknesses. The Indian and Global Environment section is memory based, so you can allot the least time for it and attempt it at the last. The scores of this section are not taken into consideration for MAT percentile calculation, so you can skip it too if there’s time crunch.
- Sectional Cut Offs: Try to achieve sectional cut offs in all the sections at first and then improvise. The key to an overall good score is balanced attempts in all the sections of MAT. Keep Indian and Global Environment section for the last as it is easy and not so important as mentioned in the point above.
- Choose the Right Questions: MAT exam has negative marking so choosing the right question is critical. Read every question carefully and understand what is being asked. If you think you don’t know the answer skip it and move on to the next question. There is no negative marking for unanswered questions so stay safe. However, at times some questions appear tough but are very easy. So, you need to understand the questions very well to make the right choice.
- Keep an eye on the timer: The MAT CBT will have a timer running on the screen. Keep an eye on it. Don’t spend more time on a section than you have allotted to it. Keep saving your answers because the moment the timer will hit 0, the screen will get locked and you will not be able to save or mark anything in the test.
- Don’t Panic: The most important tip for a good performance in a speed based exam like MAT is not to get bogged down by the number of questions or time limit. Have faith in your preparation and attempt the questions you can. It is not necessary to attempt all the 200 questions in 2.5 hours. Nobody can attempt all the questions, so keep calm and give the test.
