MBBS, PG Medical Fees Revised for 2025 Admissions in Maharashtra, UP, Karnataka, and More: Check Details

From capping private MBBS fees to reducing government quota tuition, several states have revised medical education fees for the 2025-26 academic year. Here's a state-wise breakdown.
In a significant development for aspiring doctors, multiple states across India—including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and others—have revised the fee structure for MBBS and PG medical courses for the upcoming 2025-26 academic session. While some states have introduced standardised or capped fees for private medical colleges, others have opted to slash tuition fees in government quota or state-run institutions to make medical education more affordable.
These revisions come as India continues to witness growing demand for medical seats, with over 1.08 lakh MBBS seats and 70,000+ PG seats across more than 700 medical colleges, many of which are private and charge significantly higher tuition.
Maharashtra: MBBS Fees Capped Between ₹6.2L and ₹15.5L
The Maharashtra Fee Regulatory Authority (FRA) has finalised the new fee structure for MBBS courses in private unaided medical colleges for 2025 admissions. Based on institutional infrastructure and service quality, fees will now range between ₹6.2 lakh and ₹15.5 lakh per annum.
This wide band allows flexibility while maintaining transparency. The revised fee structure will be applicable across all FRA-approved medical colleges in the state.
Uttar Pradesh: New Fee Slabs for MBBS, MD, MS in Private Colleges
The Uttar Pradesh government has issued a fresh notification on MBBS and PG medical course fees in private institutions. For MBBS, the annual tuition will range from ₹8.25 lakh to ₹16.5 lakh, depending on whether the college is classified as Category A, B, or C.
PG course fees for MD/MS and PG Diploma have also been revised. The new structure ranges from ₹15.35 lakh to ₹20.45 lakh per year, based on the institutional grading.
Karnataka: Govt Quota MBBS, BDS Fees Reduced
In a move to ease financial pressure on students, Karnataka has reduced MBBS and BDS course fees for seats under the government quota in private colleges.
BDS fee capped at ₹83,356 per year
MBBS fee reduced from ₹1.41 lakh to ₹1.25 lakh per year
This revision was finalised after a series of negotiations between the state government and private medical institutions. It aims to support students from middle-income backgrounds.
Other States: PG Fees Slashed by ₹50,000 to ₹1 Lakh
Several state-run medical colleges, particularly in Maharashtra and other states, have announced a reduction of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh in the annual tuition fees for PG (MD/MS) and super-specialty courses.

India’s Medical Education Scenario: Over 1.7 Lakh Seats
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC), India has over:
706 medical colleges
1,08,940 MBBS seats
Over 70,000 postgraduate (MD/MS/Diploma) seats
While government colleges remain affordable, over 50% of medical seats are in private institutions, often priced beyond reach for many. These recent fee interventions across states are being seen as a step toward a more uniform and accessible medical education system.
