MBBS, PG Medical Fees Revised for 2025 Admissions in Maharashtra, UP, Karnataka, and More: Check Details
From capping MBBS fees in private solleges to reducing government quota tuition, several states have revised medical education fees for 2025-26 academic year. Here is a state-wise breakdown.
Many of the states government's across India, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and others, have revised fee structure for MBBS and PG medical courses for upcoming 2025-26 academic session. While some states have introduced standardised or have capped fees for private medical colleges, others have decided to reduce tuition fees in government quota or state-run institutions to make medical education more affordable.
These fee revisions are being done as the demand for medical seats is growing, with more than 1.08 lakh MBBS seats and over 70,000 PG seats across more than 700 medical colleges, many of which are private and charge higher tuition.
Maharashtra: MBBS Fees Capped Between ₹6.2L and ₹15.5L
Maharashtra Fee Regulatory Authority (FRA) has finalised new fee structure for MBBS courses in private unaided medical colleges for 2025 admissions. It is based on institutional infrastructure and service quality, fees will now range between ₹6.2 lakh and ₹15.5 lakh per annum.
This band allows flexibility while maintaining transparency.
Uttar Pradesh: New Fee Slabs for MBBS, MD, MS in Private Colleges
Uttar Pradesh has issued a fresh notification on MBBS and PG medical course fees in private institutions. For MBBS, annual tuition will range from ₹8.25 lakh to ₹16.5 lakh, depending on whether college is classified as Category A, B, or C.
PG course fees for MD/MS and PG Diploma have also been revised. New structure ranges from ₹15.35 lakh to ₹20.45 lakh per year, based on institutional grading.
Karnataka: Govt Quota MBBS, BDS Fees Reduced
Karnataka has reduced MBBS and BDS course fees for seats under government quota in private colleges.
BDS fee has been capped at ₹83,356 per year.
MBBS fee reduced from ₹1.41 lakh to ₹1.25 lakh per year.
This revision was finalised after a series of meeting between state government and private medical institutions.
Other States: PG Fees Slashed by ₹50,000 to ₹1 Lakh
Several state run medical colleges, particularly in Maharashtra and other states have also announced reduction of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh in annual tuition fees for PG (MD/MS) and super specialty courses.
This step is expected to reduce burden on students pursuing advanced medical degrees, many of whom face high educational loans and limited stipend-based income during training.

According to National Medical Commission (NMC), India has over:
706 medical colleges.
1,08,940 MBBS seats.
Over 70,000 postgraduate (MD/MS/Diploma) seats.
