Overview

JEE Main Application Form 2026 Session 2: The National Testing Agency (NTA) closed the extended JEE Main 2026 April session registrations.

To fill the NTA JEE application form for the session 2 exam, candidates had to register, fill the online form, upload a live photo, upload the documents needed and pay the application fees. 

The candidates who applied for JEE Main session 1 and wanted to apply again for the April session did not have to register from the start. They cpuld login with their January session application number and password, verify the details, select the papers for the exam, choose the exam city and proceed to pay the application fee. 

Before starting the JEE Mains session 2 registration, candidates were advised to be ready with valid ID proofs and scanned documents. The JEE Mains 2026 session 2 exam will be held between April 2 and 9. For complete details on the JEE Main April application process, read below.

How to Apply for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 (For First Time Candidates)

As the process for JEE Main 2026 application form has changed a lot this year, candidates must be careful when applying for the exam. Details on "How to Fill JEE Mains form 2026" are given here. The process to apply consists of the following major stages:

Step 1: JEE Main Registration 2026

The registration is the first step towards applying for JEE Mains. To register for the NTA JEE 2026 session 2, candidates have to provide the required details and are also required to create a password. After successful submission of the personal details, an application number will be generated, and it will be used to login and complete the remaining steps of the application process.

  • Visit the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in 2026
  • Select the Registration for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 link
  • Fill the JEE Main 2026 registration form with the required information, and create a passport of your choice.
  • Click on the "submit" button.

Step 2: Filling of JEE Main 2026 Application Form

At this stage candidates have to fill personal details, Paper for which applying, selecting the examination cities, providing the details of educational qualifications and uploading the images and documents in NTA JEE Main form. Candidates will have to upload his/her live photograph and will also have to upload his/her scanned images of photograph, signature, class 10 certificate, and EWS/OBC-NCL/PwD/PwBD certificate (if applicable) at this stage of JEE Main application form 2026.

Step 3: Payment of JEE Main Application Fees

Candidates will have to pay the JEE Mains 2026 registration fee online through net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI. The fees applicable to candidate will depend on their category and papers for which appearing. JEE Main 2026 Application form will be submitted automatically once the fees is paid.

Step 4: Download the Confirmation Page

After completion of the fee payment, take a printout of the confirmation page for future use. Only those forms will be considered that are submitted before JEE Mains last date for registration 2026. Candidates can check their application form status using JEE Main login 2026.

The generation of the confirmation page means that the application process has been completed successfully.

NTA has released the JEE Main 2026 eligibility criteria along with the JEE Main 2026 information brochure/notification. Candidates can check the eligibility conditions here to ensure they meet the requirements to apply for the exam like JEE Mains age limit, percentage in class 12 etc.

  • Candidates must have passed the Class 12 exam in 2024/2025 or are appearing in 2026. Candidates can appear in the exam for three consecutive years from the year of passing the class 12 exam making JEE Main number of attempts six.
  • No age limit required JEE Main 2026 Registration.
  • No minimum marks in class 12th (75% marks not required to appear in JEE Main)
  • For Paper 1 (BE/BTech), candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12 and any other subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical vocational subject.
  • For Paper 2A (BArch), candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in Class 12.
  • For Paper 2B (BPlan), candidates must have Maths in Class 12

How to Check the Status of NTA JEE Application Form 2026?

To know if NTA has accepted the JEE Mains application form, candidates must check if the Acknowledgement Slip or Confirmation Page is generated.

  • Login at jeemain.nta.nic.in using the application number and password.
  • Under the login on the student dashboard, candidates can check the application status.
  • An Acknowledgement Slip or Confirmation Page will be available for download if the application process and the fee submission are successful.
  •  If the confirmation page is not generated, this means the fee payment is pending or is unsuccessful.

Documents Required for JEE Mains 2026 Registration

Candidates must be ready with all the JEE Mains 2026 registration documents required mentioned here before applying. All the documents must be within the size, dimension and format as mentioned in the information brochure.

  • Valid and functional email and mobile number. To receive confirmation and verification messages from NTA, an active email address and mobile number are mandatory.
  • Class 10 certificate/mark sheet.
  • Aadhar card
  • Scanned photo and signature of the candidate as per the size and dimension (photograph will also be captured using webcam of laptop/computer)
  • Candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL/EWS category need to provide details of the issue date and the name of the person who issued the certificate. OBC-NCL/EWS candidates need not upload the certificate, but only the details of the certificate have to be filled in the form.
  • Scanned copy of the PwD/PwBD certificate. PwD/PwBD candidates have to upload the certificate in the form.

Essential Guidelines for Images and Documents

  • A colour or black and white photo should be used in JEE Main 2026 registration. The candidates are allowed to have spectacles in the photograph. Sunglasses and caps are not allowed.
  • Unclear photos will not be accepted in JEE Main application form. The uploaded photo should be clear and adhere to the recommended file size and format as specified in the guidelines provided by NTA.
  • The signature should be clearly done on white paper. The size and format of the uploaded signature should comply with the guidelines.
  • The documents uploaded in JEE Main Registration form should be of the size and format prescribed by the NTA.

As per the last year JEE Main marks vs percentile analysis, 120 marks would be around 95 to 97 percentile.
