NEET 2024 Counselling Round 2 Choice Locking Begins at mcc.nic.in
The NEET 2024 counselling choice locking process for Round 2 has commenced today, September 10, 2024, at 4 PM. The deadline to submit the locked choices is 11.55 PM today. Candidates who have already registered will be eligible to lock and submit their choice of colleges and seats.
The NEET 2024 counselling choice locking process for Round 2 has commenced today, September 10, 2024, at 4 PM. The deadline to submit the locked choices is 11.55 PM today. Candidates who have already registered will be eligible to fill, lock and submit their choice of colleges and seats.
The choice-filling process, which had started on September 6, 2024, is also ending today at 11.55 PM. The registration process for NEET 2024 counselling Round 1 was conducted from September 5 to September 10, 2024, 12 noon. The application fee could be paid till 3 pm today.
In this round, 614 new seats have been added. The total numbers of clear and virtual vacancies are 11,345 and 6,947 respectively.
How to Lock NEET 2024 Counselling Choices
Eligible candidates for choice-locking process will have to follow the steps given below:
- Visit the official website of MCC – www.mcc.nic.in/ug-medical-counselling/
- Click on the tab ‘New Registration 2024’ under the Candidate Activity section
- Log in with the registration credentials
- Click on the tab indicating Choice Filling
- Check the entered choices carefully and submit
- Click on the lock button
- If a candidate does not lock the choice submitted by him/her, it will be automatically locked as per schedule
- Take a printout of the locked choices
Factors to Consider for NEET 2024 Counselling Choice Locking
Candidates must note the following points before the final choice locking process:
- The registration process including the payment of the registration fee is complete before proceeding towards the choice filling and locking stages.
- Male candidates must ensure that they do not select female-only colleges such Lady Hardinge Medical Colleges, New Delhi; BPS Govt. Medical College for Women, Sonepat; Ahilya Bai College of Nursing, New Delhi, to name a few.
- Once the choice locking process is completed, there will not be any option to revoke or change the choices. Hence, candidates must be careful during this process.
List of Candidates Converted to NRI
MCC released the list of candidates whose nationality has been converted from Indian to NRI. As many as 453 candidates are eligible for the NRI quota. Releasing the list, MCC has stated, “The above candidates have been converted provisionally from INDIAN to NRI for the purpose of UG counselling 2024-25 on the basis of scrutiny of documents sent by them to MCC of DGHS. However, the candidates have to produce the same original documents at the time of Reporting in case NRI seat is allotted to them, failing which their admission is liable to get cancelled.”

The participating institutes will process the seat allotment from September 11 and September 12, 2024, and the NEET 2024 counselling Round 2 seat allotment result will be released on September 13, 2024. Selected candidates will have to report to the allotted institutes between September 14 to September 20, 2024.

No, candidates need not report or join the allotted college of NEET counselling Round 1 since there is free exit. However if they want to retain the Round 1 seat and upgrade in Round 2 they have to physically join the college of Round 1 and give up-gradation willingness for Round 2 at the time of admission. In case candidates decide to resign the seat allotted to them in the first round, then they can do so prior to registering in the next round of NEET counselling.
