NEET 2024 Counselling Round 2 NRI Conversion Window Open Till Tomorrow

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened the window to convert NEET 2024 counselling Round 2 participants’ nationality from Indian to NRI. Such candidates will have to send an email to MCC with the requisite document proving their nationality by September 3, 10 AM. The process had started on September 1, 10 AM.

In the notice, MCC has stated, “It is for the information to all the candidates that those who are claiming to be NRI should send their relevant documents as mentioned below, in support of their claim to change nationality from Indian to NRI through e-mail ug.nri.mcc@gmail.com.”

MCC adds, “Mails received before/ after the stipulated time will not be considered. Candidates are advised to send all documents enclosed in single mail only, within stipulated time.”

List of Documents Required for Nationality Conversion to NRI

The following documents have to be uploaded in the email in the following order:

  • Documents claiming that the sponsorer is an NRI (Passport, Visa of the sponsorer).
  • Relationship of NRI with the candidate.
  • Affidavit from the sponsorer that he/she will sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate duly notarised.
  • Embassy Certificate of the Sponsorer (Certificate from the Consulate).
  • NEET Score Card of the candidate.

Conditions Levied by MCC for Candidates Willing to Convert Nationality to NRI

MCC has laid down the following conditions for candidates who are willing to change nationality to NRI:

  • Candidates must have appeared and qualified for NEET 2024
  • Once the category is changed, candidates will not be able to avail the benefit under Muslim Minority quota/Jain Minority Quota/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS or any other Quota.
  • The conversion of the Nationality of candidates from ‘Indian’ to ‘NRI’ is ‘Provisional’ based on the documents submitted by the candidates which will be verified by the allotted college authorities at the time of reporting.

The registration process for NEET 2024 counselling Round 2 will begin on September 5 and the last date of registration is September 10. MCC will conduct four rounds of NEET counselling 2024. The first round was conducted from August 14 to August 31, 2024.

Q:   Is it necessary to join allotted Medical/Dental College of Round 1 to get chance to participate in Round 2 of NEET counselling?
A:

No, candidates need not report or join the allotted college of NEET counselling Round 1 since there is free exit. However if they want to retain the Round 1 seat and upgrade in Round 2 they have to physically join the college of Round 1 and give up-gradation willingness for Round 2 at the time of admission. In case candidates decide to resign the seat allotted to them in the first round, then they can do so prior to registering in the next round of NEET counselling.
