NEET PG 2025 Cutoff Controversy: Top Officials Calls Cutoff Reduction as 'National Perspective'; Know Latest Details
The officials stressed that deciion of NEET PG 2025 cutoff reduction has been made to fill vacant seats and in a national perspective and merit-based allocation of PG medical seats across India.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBE), through an official notification dated January 13, has reduced NEET PG 2025 cutoff. The qualifying cutoff has been revised for all categories. Surprisingly, the NEET PG 2025 cutoff reduced to zero for reserved category students. As per the revised cutoff for NEET PG 2025, SC, ST and OBC category students who have obtained minus 40 will now be eligible for admission to PG medical courses. The NEET PG exam carries a total of 800 marks.

NEET PG 2025 Cutoff Reduced: What Top Official Says?
Reportedly, the top officials have called the decision of NEET PG 2025 cutoff reduction a 'National Perspective'. The officials highlighted, "We need to understand problems holistically from a national perspective."
As per several media reports, the official further mentioned that NEET PG is a competitive entrance test built on merit. Since the seats are much lower than those of aspirant students. They highlighted that there is no change in the NEET PG 2025 result of any student. The reason for negative scores is due to the structure of the examination with negative marking for wrong answers.
NEET PG 2025 Cutoff Controversy: PIL Filed in Supreme Court
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court against the reduced cutoff for NEET PG 2025. The PIL was filed in the Supreme Court on January 16, 2026, arguing that lowering the NEET PG 2025-26 cutoff to zero defeats the merit-based admissions.
