• Candidates must have attained the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will attain the same by December 31, 2024. Accordingly, the minimum date of birth of candidates should be December 31, 2007. There is no upper age limit.
• Indian nationals/ Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) who wish to pursue MBBS/BDS from a foreign university also have to qualify for NEET 2024.

Candidates have to enter the following information in the NEET 2024 registration form, once it is released:

• Password for Creation

After completing the NEET 2024 registration process, or after the generation of the credentials, or the username and password, candidates will have to log in and complete the application process by entering the mandatory details, uploading the requisite documents and paying the application fee as per the candidate category. The steps to fill the form are given below.

• Click on New Registration tab
• Enter the login credentials
• Fill up the mandatory details of each stage and save the section before moving on to the next
• Upload the necessary documents
• Pay the application fee using Net Banking or Credit/Debit Card
• Save and download the application confirmation page for future reference. 

Candidates should keep the following things or factors ready before registering for NEET 2024:

• Internet connection
• Personal computer - laptop or desktop
• Updated internet browser
• Valid ad functional email ID and mobile number
• Class 10 marks and percentage
• Class 12 marks and percentage
• Identity Number - Aadhar Card number/ Passport number/ Ration Card number/ bank account/ any other valid Govt. identity number

There is no upper limit in NEET. While NEET is conducted once a year and candidates can appear only once in one year, an aspirant can appear for the exam as many times as he/she wishes to. Given the fact that the upper age limit has been removed, there is no barrier to the highest number of attempts. 

Based on the tentative dates of the NEET 2024 application process, NTA is expected to release the NEET 2024 forms by the third or fourth week of January 2024. It can be expected that the NEET application form 2024 will be out before January 26, 2024. 

The NEET 2024 application process will be available only in online mode. In case a candidate does not have internet access, he/she has to visit the Common Service Centre (CSC) to complete the process. 

NTA announced the NEET 2024 exam date around eight months in advance after weighing all possible criteria. Hence, the chances are low that the NEET 2024 exam date will be postponed.

The NEET 2024 application fee will be mentioned by NTA once the NEET form is out. NTA has not announced any change regarding the NEET 2024 exam pattern. Hence, it is expected that the NEET 2024 exam pattern will remain the same as last year. However, given the major change in the syllabus, a change in the pattern cannot be ruled out. 

As of now, there are two major changes introduced in NEET 2024. First, the NEET 2024 syllabus has changed. While some chapters have been removed, there have been addition of a few chapters and topics in all three subjects as well. Secondly, there have been a few changes in the NEET eligibility criteria as well. Candidates who have studied Biology/Biotechnology as additional subject will be eligible to appear for NEET. Moreover, candidates from Open Schools will also be considered eligible to appear for NEET 2024. 

The NEET 2024 exam will be conducted from 2 PM to 5.20 PM, as per the Indian Standard Time (IST).

It is expected that like last year, NTA will provide an application correction window for NEET 2024 as well after the conclusion of the application process. Candidates can edit or correct the wrong details entered within the NEET application process within the stipulated dates.

No, candidates are not given the option to select medical courses or colleges while filling the NEET 2024 application form. This facility will be given to candidates during the NEET counselling registration process. In the NEET application form, candidates have to fill in the details regarding personal, communication, academic and NEET exam choice related information. 

Candidates are advised to check and ensure that they fulfil the NEET 2024 eligibility criteria before filling up the NEET application form. While candidates will be able to submit the application form if they fill up the mandatory details, but during the verification process, if it is found out that the candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria, then his/her candidature will be cancelled. 

The Odisha Government has introduced free NEET coaching for Class 11 and Class 12 students belonging to the state. The coaching is provided in virtual mode.

At this stage, it is difficult to predict whether the last date of the NEET 2024 application process will be extended or not. Based on the last few years' trends, it is expected that the NEET 2024 application last date will be extended, or the application process will be reopened.  

In case the NEET 2024 application fee amount is deducted from the account but there is no confirmation from NTA, candidates should wait for a while, or login again and check the application status. If it says incomplete, then they should complete the process. In case the payment process is incomplete but the amount is deducted, it will be refunded to the account. In case of further difficulty, they should contact the NTA Helpline to seek help. 

If the NEET application form is left idle for 30 minutes after logging in, the session will expire. In case the session expires due to loss of internet connection, then the form will be saved till the last completed section. In case candidates were in the middle of a section and it was not saved, then they will have to restart it. Unless candidates fill the NEET form at the last moment, they should not worry about the session expiry. Hence, candidates are advised to fill the NEET 2024 application form well on time and not wait for the last moment to complete it. 

Some of the common mistakes to avoid while filling the NEET 2024 application form are as follows:

• Not reading the instructions carefully before filling the registration and application form.
• Not providing correct information in the NEET application form, which may lead to cancellation of candidature.
• Not uploading proper documents in the given format or dimension. Unless the documents are uploaded in proper format and dimension, the application process will not proceed.
• Not paying the application fee on time. Candidates often wait till the last moment to pay the NEET application fee and owing to technical glitches, they tend to miss the deadline, leading to an incomplete application. 

NTA officials are yet to announce the exact date of releasing the NEET 2024 application form. Based on the speculations, it can be estimated that the NEET form will be out by third or fourth week of January 2024. Hence it can be estimated that the application form of NEET 2024 will be out by next week or next to next week.

No, the NEET application form or documents do not need to be sent by post. The process has to be completed online. 

No, in case a dropper candidate is applying, he or she does not need to upload a gap certificate in the NEET application form. However, he/she must fulfil the eligibility criteria of the exam. 

While there is no hard and fast rule against filling the NEET application form from a cyber cafe, it is not recommended since several personal and confidential information and documents have to be entered and uploaded, using a public computer which is accessed by many may lead to data theft or forgery. Even if a candidate is compelled to visit a cyber cafe to fill the NEET application form, he/she must logout and delete the documents after submitting the form. 

If a candidate completes the NEET application form at one go and has all the required information ready, then the process will take approximately 40 to 50 minutes in total. 

No, it is not necessary to complete the NEET application process at one go. After completing each section, candidates have to save it and proceed. In case they have to leave, then should save and then login once again to resume the process. 

The NEET 2024 application fee is yet to be announced by NTA. For reference, we bring last year's application fee for NEET.

Last year, NTA increased the NEET application fee by INR 100 for each category. In 2022, the NEET application fee was INR 1,600, which was increased from INR 1,400. Hence, there is a possibility that there will also be an increase in the NEET 2024 application fee. 

In this case, candidates will have to download the reserved category certificate format from the NEET 2024 information brochure and fill it up with the mandatory details and upload it. Moreover, candidates should ensure that the certificates issued by the competent authorities should not be older than April 1, 2023. 

While filling the NEET 2024 application form, candidates will have to answer the question of whether they have appeared for the Class 12 Board exam or yet to appear. In case they select the latter, they will not be asked to upload the Class 12 pass certificate. 

No, it is not mandatory to upload Class 10 and Class 12 Board exam mark sheets while filling the NEET 2024 application form. Applicants need to upload the pass certificates to establish the academic eligibility criteria. 

There is no mandate about uploading the passport or postcard size photograph in colour or black and white format. It can be either, but candidates must ensure that the photograph should be clear and the face should be clearly visible for at least 80 per cent. Candidates should not be wearing cap/hat/sunglasses, scarves or mufflers while taking the photograph. Moreover, it should not be older than three months.

Candidates belonging to the reserved category or to a particular category will have to upload the requisite category certificate. The list of applicable certificates is given below:

• GEN-EWS certificate which should have been issued on or after April 1, 2023, in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India.

• OBC-NCL certificate which should have been issued on or after April 1, 2023, in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India.

• Caste (for SC) or Tribe (for ST) certificate in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India. If any SC/ST candidate fails to upload the SC/ST certificate at the time of online registration.

• PwBD certificate stating the percentage of disability of the candidate.

In case candidates lack the requisite certificate issued on or after the date mentioned above, they will have to download and fill the Declaration by Candidates in lieu of the category certificate from the NEET 2024 information brochure.

Candidates who are NRI or OCI have to upload the following documents:

• Scanned copy of the first and last page of the Passport wherein the Citizenship /Nationality of the Candidate, as well as the date of issue, Validity Period, place of issue, and Issuing Authority of the Passport, are clearly mentioned.

  Or

• Citizenship Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the Country of Nationality of the Candidate, wherein the Citizenship/Nationality of the Candidate, date of issue, Validity Period, place of issue, and Issuing Authority, are clearly mentioned.

  Or

• Any other Document issued by a Government Authority in the Country of Nationality of the Candidate (including OCI Card issued by the MHA or concerned Indian Diplomatic Mission in case of OCT Candidate only), wherein the Citizenship /Nationality of the Candidate, date of issue, Validity Period, place of issue and Issuing Authority of the Document, are clearly mentioned.

The guidelines for uploading the left-hand thumb impression are as follows:

• The candidate should put Left and Right-hand Fingers and Thumb impressions as per the Template provided.

• The thumb impressions should be clearly legible.

• The file size has to be between 10 KB to 200 KB.

• Unclear Left and Right-hand fingers and thumb Impressions in Online Application Forms will also be rejected.

The guidelines for uploading signatures on the NEET 2024 application form are as follows:

• The scanned signature should be between 4 KB to 30 KB.

• The file format should be JPG only.

• The signature should be made on black ballpoint pen on white paper. 

• The signature should be made in running letters and not in full capital letters.

• In case someone else’s signature has been uploaded, the candidature shall be cancelled and the case will be considered an Unfair Means Case. Criminal action as per the laws of the land shall also be initiated.

The guidelines regarding uploading photographs at the NEET 2024 application form are as follows:

• The photograph should not be less than three months old.

• The photograph should be either in colour or black and white with 80 per cent face (without mask) visible including ears against a white background.

• The size of the scanned passport photograph should be between 10 KB to 200 KB (clearly legible).

• The size of the scanned Postcard photograph (4”x6”) should be between 10 KB - 200 KB (clearly legible).

• The file format should be JPG or JPEG.

Candidates will have to follow the below guidelines while uploading the thumb impressions:

• The thumb impression has to be taken for both left and right hand thumbs
• The impression has to be taken in blue ink on a plain white paper
• The thumb impressions should not be smudged
• The size of scanned and Left and Right hand Fingers and Thumb impressions should be between 10 kb to 200 kb
• The file format should be JPG/JPEG

Candidates have to follow the below instructions while uploading their signatures:

• The signature has to be done with a blue or black ballpoint pen on a plain white paper
• The signature should not be made in capital letters and should be legible
• The file should be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format
• The size of the file should be between 4 KB to 30 KB

A CSC or a Common Service Centre is a scheme under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. There are over 1.5 lakh CSCs across India in both rural as well as urban areas to help not so well conversant candidates in online submission of the NEET application form and payment of fees through e-wallet. 

In case of lack of a stable internet connection, candidates are advised to visit the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) and fill up the NEET 2024 application form. The officials also help candidates to complete the process if need be. There is a fee to seek the services. Students can visit the website csc.gov.in to find out their nearest CSC. 

Similar to the application process, the NEET application fee has to be paid in online mode only. The different payment modes are Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking and UPI. 

Generally, NTA gives one more day to pay the NEET application fee after the registration or application deadline. However, only those who would complete the registration process will be allowed to pay the application fee.

The NEET application process generally lasts for a couple of months. Earlier, the application process for NEET lasted three to four months. Over the years, the duration has reduced. However, every year, NTA extends the NEET application deadline or reopen the application window.

While creating the NEET 2024 registration password, candidates should keep in mind the following factors:

• It should be at least eight characters
• It should have at least one capital letter
• It should have one special character 

Candidates will have to select their NEET 2024 exam city preference based on the question paper medium. While English, Hindi and Urdu language NEET question papers are available across all exam centres, the regional language papers will be available in that particular region only. Candidates will have to select as many as two cities in the order of preference while filling the NEET 2024 application form. Earlier, applicants could choose four cities, but the number of choices was reduced from last year.

Last year, the total number of cities was 499, including 14 cities outside India. This year, the number of exam cities is expected to go up.  

The total number of exam centres or number of cities for NEET 2024 will be announced along with the application form. The details will be mentioned on the notification and information brochure. Last year, the exam was conducted in over 4,000 centres in India and abroad.  

Along with the NEET 2024 application form, the information brochure and notification will also be released. These documents will carry information regarding important dates, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, exam city list, application process and fees, to name a few.

Candidates will have to follow the below guidelines regarding photograph upload at NEET 2024 application form:

• The recent photograph should be either in colour or black and white with 80 per cent face (without mask) visible including ears against a white background.
• Scanned photographs should be in JPG format (clearly legible).
• The size of the scanned passport photograph should be between 10 kb to 200 kb (clearly legible).
• The size of the scanned Postcard photograph (4”x6”) should be between 10  kb - 200 kb (clearly legible).

NTA will release the NEET 2024 information brochure by January-end, along with the application form and notification.
