The Rajasthan government has decided to introduce National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus in the government and private schools affiliated by the state government from the next academic year for classes 6th to 9th and class 11th.

However, the Government also plans to extend the NCERT syllabus to the board classes 10th and 12th from the 2021-22 academic year. The course curriculum will not be changed for the academic year 2020-21 for Classes 10th and 12th.

The decision comes amid the ongoing tussle between the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and the ruling Congress party regarding the change of syllabus. After the new session began, the BJP has been accusing the ruling party of tampering with the history and glorifying only one family while belittling the role of freedom fighters. The Congress has hit back with the allegation by saying that BJP is saffronising the education system.
