KEA Clarifies SC Category Rules After Karnataka SET Merit List Disputes

KEA Clarifies SC Category Rules After Karnataka SET Merit List Disputes

Karnataka State Eligibility Test was held on November 2, 2025. Soon after exam, provisional answer key was released and candidates were invited to submit objections. These objections were reviewed by a Subject Expert Committee and final answer keys and provisional KSET marks list were released on November 15, 2025. Based on marks, KEA released subject wise provisional KSET 2025 merit list on November 21. The list reflected SC category SC-A, SC-B or SC-C as selected by candidates while downloading their admit cards.

Requests and Complaints Over Wrong Category Selection

After KSET merit list was released, many candidates approached Karnataka Examination Authority asking for corrections, saying they had accidentally chosen wrong SC sub category. Some organisations also complained that few candidates might have intentionally selected incorrect categories to claim reservation benefits. In response, KEA issued official clarification for all candidates selected in KSET provisional list.

KSET 2025 Provisional List Not Guarantee of Eligibility

KEA stated that provisional Karnataka SET merit list is prepared only based on information entered by candidates online. They stressed that merely appearing in list does not guarantee issuance of KSET 2025 eligibility certificate.

Document Verification Made Mandatory

Candidates must produce their original educational documents and reservation certificates including post-graduate degree certificates, during official document verification process. KSET 2025 certificate will be issued only after these documents are verified.

SC-A, SC-B, SC-C Candidates Must Show Correct RD-Number Certificate

KEA further clarified that candidates claiming SC A, SC B or SC C reservation must present valid Tahsildar issued caste certificate with RD number. Failure to do so will lead to

  • Rejection of KSET 2025 eligibility certificate and
  • The seat is being given to next eligible candidate in that category, as per rules

The Authority has urged candidates to ensure that their category details and documents are accurate. Any mismatch may result in disqualification. Candidates must have all required certificates to avoid rejection.

Q:   What are the qualifying marks for the KSET 2025 exam?
A:

The KSET aggregate qualifying marks for the General category are 40% and for reserved categories are 35%. Along with the result cutoff marks and scorecard will be announced. The cutoff will be released subject and category wise.
