SCERT of states and UTs have released the NTSE application form 2020 on the official websites. Candidates need to download the form and submit the completely filled application form at school. Find the link to download state-wise application forms below.
SCERTs of all States and UTs have started to release the NTSE application form 2020 on their official websites. Students studying in class 10th who are interested to appear for the exam can download the form, fill it and submit it offline to their school officials along with the application fee (if any) for attestation by the principal. NTSE stage 1 exam 2020 is scheduled to be conducted on November 2 for Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, on November 3 for all other states and UTs and on November 17, 2019, for Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Delhi NCR, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Till date, the application forms of NTSE 2020 have been released by Chandigarh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. The last date to submit the completely filled NTSE 2020 application form varies from state to state. The steps and the link to download the state-wise NTSE application form has been provided below.

- Read the instructions carefully and click on the link ‘NTSE 2020 application form’
- The form will open up on the screen
- Save and download the form. Take a printout of the same

NTSE Exam Pattern 2020
NTSE 2020 exam pattern is the same for both stages. The question paper consists of two papers- MAT and SAT. The Stage 1 examination can be attempted in either English, Hindi or any regional language (depending on the state) while stage 2 exam can be attempted only in English. Every correct answer will fetch 1 mark while there is no negative marking for wrong attempts. Details regarding MAT and SAT are provided below:
Mental Ability Test (MAT)
- Consists of questions based on analytical and logical reasoning.
- The section evaluates the candidate’s reasoning, ability to think, ability to evaluate, ability to discriminate and visualize.
- The total questions in MAT section are 100 to be answered in the duration of 120 minutes. Each question carries 1 mark.
- The main topics of the Mental Ability Test are series, pattern perception, analogies, coding-decoding, classifications, hidden figures and problem-solving, etc.
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)
- This section also consists of a total of 100 questions from Science (40), Social Science (40) and Mathematics (20). These are to be answered in a duration of 120 minutes. Each question carries 1 mark.
- It tests the candidate’s reading abilities, interpretation, evaluation and general awareness of the subjects.
- The level of questions will be equivalent to class 10 or equivalent exam.
NTSE exam is conducted in two stages. Stage 1 of NTSE 2020 will be conducted in November by SCERT of all states and UTs while stage 2 is slated to be conducted on May 10, 2020, at the national level by NCERT. Those who qualify the NTSE stage 1 exam will be shortlisted for NTSE stage 2 provided they achieve the cutoff score set by the state. Candidates need not apply for NTSE stage 2 as the NTSE application is a one-step process.
