SSC CGL tier-1 Exam began across country on Sept 12

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has clarified that the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2025, which began on Sept 12, is being conducted smoothly across the country, with only a small number of shifts cancelled and rescheduled.

The SSC CGL exam began on September 12 and will continue till September 26, with three shifts per day at 227 venues in 129 cities. According to the SSC statement, 301,722 candidates have already appeared for the exam successfully.

According to SSC officials, more than 28 lakh candidates are expected to appear in this recruitment cycle. β€œSo far, 3,01,722 candidates have taken their examinations smoothly. Out of a total of 2,435 shifts planned across all the centres, only 25 shifts in some centres have been cancelled to date. All 7,705 affected candidates have already been rescheduled for alternate dates,” SSC officials said.

The Commission emphasized that the examination process is proceeding without disruption. β€œIn the exam scheduled on September 15, no centres have been cancelled and the examination is going on smoothly at all centres across the country,” the officials added.

The SSC has clarified that no examination centre has been cancelled. β€œThe examination is going on smoothly all over the country in all the scheduled centres,” it said, urging candidates to avoid relying on social media rumours.

Even with the clarification, many candidates voiced concerns online as the Day of the exam saw multiple cancellations at centres in cities like Jammu, Delhi, and Gurugram.
One student wrote on X (formerly Twitter): β€œExam centre was locked when we arrived. Later told exam is rescheduled. Hope SSC announces new date soon.”

Another aspirant added: β€œConfusion everywhere. Friends had their shifts cancelled at Bokaro centre without prior intimation. Need clarity from SSC directly.”
