UPSC 2021 notification was released on March 4. The UPSC issued the Civil Service (IAS) 2021 notification for 712 vacancies. The last date to apply for the IAS 2021 exam is March 24. See here details.
The UPSC 2021 notification for the Civil Service (IAS) Exam was released on March 4. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was restrained from issuing the IAS 2021 notification by the Supreme Court because of a pending case, but the apex court had rejected the plea for granting an extra attempt to all the candidates irrespective of the age.

The UPSC notification 2021 is delayed almost by a month. The IAS prelims 2021 is slated to be conducted on June 27. The UPSC will have to provide 20 days for the application process to the candidates. The UPSC have to work overtime to conduct the IAS 2021 prelims exam on time. The candidates should start preparing for the IAS prelims exam from January itself if they have not cleared the IAS prelims not even once.

IAS Prelims is the first stage of the three stages. It is conducted offline across the nation at the designated IAS exam centres. The IAS prelims exam is a screening exam only and the candidates need to qualify the IAS prelims exam to get admission in the IAS main exam. IAS Prelims is a multiple-choice exam and the candidates need to select the right answer option from the four. There is a negative marking in the IAS prelims exam. The IAS prelims exam is conducted in the following pattern.

- Current events of national and international importance.
- History of India and Indian National Movement.
- Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World.
- Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
- Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
- General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization.
- General Science.
