BML Munjal University's Centre for Child and Youth Transitions aims to empower children and youth and overcome the challenges, including unemployment, education and sustainability.
BML Munjal University announced the launch of the Centre for Child and Youth Transitions (CCYT). The centre is dedicated to research, teaching, policy making and advocacy for young citizens due to the urgent need to reform. Further, the centre also aims to tackle demographic challenges, including unemployment, education and sustainability. The Centre for Child and Youth Transitions seeks to promote youth-led policy advocacy and engagement by actively working with student clubs and youth organisations to inform policy, moving away from traditional top-down strategies.
The Centre will work directly with government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to overcome research gaps and implement effective policy solutions. The Centre will launch novel educational initiatives, such as an undergraduate Minor in Childhood and Youth Studies and certificate programs for practitioners in child rights, youth leadership, and law.
Professor Arindam Banerjee, Dean of the School of Liberal Studies at BML Munjal University, shared the highlights of CCYT, saying, “The Centre for Child and Youth Transitions at BML Munjal University embodies our vision of education as a dynamic space for reflection, inquiry, and change. Rather than critiquing existing systems, we seek to actively shape new possibilities. We believe that engaging with the experiences of children and youth requires more than preparing them for the future—it demands a deep understanding of present-day realities and a critical look at historical influences. Through this Centre, we aim to nurture thoughtful, interdisciplinary scholars who challenge conventions and contribute to building a more compassionate and equitable world.”
