
Jamia Millia Islamia NIRF Ranking 2025 highlights retaining of 12th rank in the overall category. Meanwhile, the university bags third position among SDG institutions, 5th in the Architecture and 8th in the Law category.
JMI NIRF Ranking 2025: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has secured remarkable ranks in the NIRF Rankings 2025. The university has received 13th rank in the ‘overall’ category and 4th rank among universities in India. The NIRF ranking 2025 were announced by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, as a symbol of academic and infrastructural compatibility of the education institutions across India.
This year, the Ministry of Education evaluated institutions across 17 categories, introducing for the first time the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) ranking. In the SGD category, JMI achieved a 3rd rank in NIRF SDG ranking 2025, highlighting the sustainability and socially meaningful education offered by the university
Sharing his delight, JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif said, “It is a matter of great pride that JMI has retained its overall position while excelling in SDG rankings. Our faculty’s hard work in research, skill-based and value-based education has helped us strengthen our standing. We aim to further improve in Engineering, Management and Dentistry in the coming years.”
JMI NIRF Ranking 2025: Rank in Architecture and Law
In addition to its top performance in SDGs, JMI secured the 5th rank in Architecture and Planning and 8th rank in Law. The university was also placed 17th rank in Dental, 20th in Research Institutions, 24th in Engineering, and 28th in Management specialisation. The NIRF 2025 ranking was the 10th edition, assessing institutions on Teaching, Research and Professional Practice; Learning and Resources; Graduation Outcomes; Outreach and Inclusivity; and Perception.

Jamia Millia Islamia is one of the higher-ranked institutions in North India, with vast course diversity, and international exposure. QS World University Rankings 2026 has placed JMI within the band 761-770. According to the NIRF 2024 Rankings, the university has been placed at the 3rd position in the "Universities" category. Further, Times Higher Education 2023 has put Jamia Millia Islamia within the 501-600 band for Indian Universities.

Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission in Jamia Millia Islamia [JMI].
