UGC directed institutions to take strict actions against the violation of the regulations released by the commission in order to curb ragging.
University Grants Commission (UGC) issued an order to all the higher educational institutions against ragging practices. The directions are released in order to frame regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions in order to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging. The Commission asked institutions to take necessary steps in order to implement its regulation and view the violation of these regulations seriously. According to the official notification, “If any Institution fails to take adequate steps to prevent ragging or not act in accordance with these Regulations or fails to punish perpetrators of incidents of ragging suitably, it will attract punitive action against itself by the UGC.”
