University Grants Commission has not issued any such notice asking universities to conduct examinations offline

The University Grants Commission termed a notice circulating across various platforms as ‘fake’ which states that the Commission has allowed universities to conduct examinations in offline mode.

As per the UGC, a public notice regarding offline examinations in universities is circulating on social media and claims to be issued by it, “This public notice is FAKE!”. “University Grants Commission has not issued any such notice,” mentions a tweet posted on the official Twitter handle of UGC.

The fake notice states that UGC has issued a circular for conducting offline examinations in all universities semester courses for all the upcoming semesters in their home centres. The UGC has termed the notice as false, which asks all the universities to conduct all the current and future semester examinations in offline mode in their home centres with maintaining COVID-19 protocols.

Universities and colleges switched to online mode of education with the third wave of COVID-19 sweeping across the nation in early January 2022. However higher education institutions are gradually moving towards reopening their campuses once again for offline mode of education.

In Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has issued orders for reopening of their campuses for offline academic activities.
