Coronavirus scare: UPSC postpones IES/ISS exam application process

The UPSC postponed the Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service exam application process.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) postponed the Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service exam application process. The process of application was scheduled to begin on March 25. According to the official notification, UPSC stated that ‘IES / ISS Examination-2020, scheduled to be notified on 25/03/2020, has been deferred till further notice’.
To confirm the news, the commission is running a single line notification on the official website of UPSC i.e. upsc.gov.in.
However, the Commission not notified about any change in exam dates yet. According to the exam calendar shared by the UPSC, the exams will begin on June 26 and will be held for three days.
Last year, the Commission announced the examinations on March 20 and the exam began on June 28. In January 2020, the final result for last year's exams was out. Out of the lot, a total of 64 candidates got the recommendation by the Commission for appointments.
Anshuman Kamila was the 2019 topper of the Indian Economic Service exam and Harshit Agarwal topped the Indian Statistical Service exam.
UPSC: Exam Process
After the release of the official notification by UPSC, the application process begins. Candidates are given a one-time chance to withdraw their application and cancel their candidature for the exam only after the applications are received by the Commission. The facility to withdraw applications begins at least a week after the application process closes.

The state governments are doing a nation-wide lockdown due to the rapidly spreading pandemic coronavirus. In order to control the spread of the deadly disease, state governments have the order to cancel examinations, suspend classes and vacate educational institutions.
