The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared that there will be no public gathering in the state till June 30, 2020. This announcement came on April 26  where the chief minister directed all the government officials not to allow any public gathering even if the lockdown is lifted on May 3, 2020 in the state. The decision was taken to keep the number of Corona positive cases under control in the state. The UPPSC PCS prelims 2020 is scheduled to be conducted on June 21 and in the light of this order, it is likely to be postponed.

Uttar Pradesh is a big state in terms of area and population. The UPPSC PCS 2020 prelims exam will require the mass movement of the candidates from one district to another through busses, trains and private vehicles. Sometimes, it requires even a night stay near the exam centre.

The lockdown 2.0 is ending on May 3, 2020 and still, the number of coronavirus positive cases are on the rise in Uttar Pradesh. It is also not sure that the lockdown will be extended or not. Even if it is not extended, the future will not be the same as our past because there will be restrictions in the corona affected districts.

There are 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh and 58 districts have the coronavirus positive cases in huge numbers. There are 58 UPPSC exam centres in the state and the exam will require the mobilisation of the state’s administrative machinery for the security of exam centres, papers and smooth conduct of the exam.

When the whole state machinery is oriented towards the prevention of coronavirus spread and mitigation of the situation, it would be in the favour of all the stakeholders that the UPPSC PCS prelims exam 2020 should be postponed.
