IAS 2020 prelims exam is postponed. In a one-line notice published on the official UPSC, UPSC said that "The IAS prelims exam 2020 scheduled to be held on May 31, stands deferred. Decision on the fresh date of the examination will be made available on May 20 after assessing the situation. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be releasing the new IAS prelims 2020 exam dates on May 20. The Honourable Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh already hinted about postponing the UPSC prelims 2020. In an earlier notice, the UPSC had stated that the new exam dates will be announced after May 3 and toady it made this important announcement regarding the postponement of IAS prelims exam 2020.

The candidates were waiting for the new exam dates for the IAS prelims because the conditions arising because of the coronavirus almost half of the country is in the red zone and it is very difficult to conduct the IAS exam 2020 pan India. Various IAS exam centres are located in the red zones and it would be very difficult to mobilise the state administrative machinery to conduct the exam effectively.

The IAS exam 2020 notification was issued on February 12. The IAS 2020 prelims exam was scheduled to be conducted on May 31. But due to the coronavirus pandemic and the consequent lockdown, it is very difficult for the UPSC to conduct the IAS exam 2020 on May 31.
The IAS interviews 2019 were also postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, the candidates can strengthen their IAS preparation so that they can do well in the IAS exam 2020.
