Right decision for basic education fills the dream pot of life: Akash Choudhary
“It is education only which gives human beings the power to differentiate between right and wrong, good and bad”– Supreme Court of India.
The above statement can also be seen in a reverse order that right and wrong of one's life will be decided by the decisions taken by him/her for their basic education.
Myths about School
In the months of April and May every year, there is a common rumour in the market discussed by almost every Indian– “Science is better than Arts”, “No, no Arts is better because it is easy”, “Yes, commerce can also be a good choice.”
So, if you have completed your high school and want to take a decision regarding your career, I would suggest you to stop, sit, and have a glass of water. Ask yourself what you want to do and what are your interests regarding studies. Ask your parents and well-wishers and tell them about your choice. In the end, it should be your decision because nobody but you can understand your limits of capability and interests. A wrong decision here will affect you throughout life.
Doubt regarding stream selection
Some career options are quite justiciable to their respective streams, like an aspiring engineer would go for Science, aspiring CAs will go for Commerce, and aspiring teachers will go for the respective subjects.
But there is one class of people who are interested in studying the stream which is not in line with their goals. For example, a student who is aiming to be a civil servant or a social activist might want to study Science or Commerce at the intermediate level.
These people must not give up on their interests because the present scenario of India has seen civil servants, social activists, and politicians from Science and Commerce background as well. If they can, you will also do it. But make sure you follow the path keeping your capabilities and interests in mind and a focus on the ultimate goal.
Are coachings must?
“Should I join a coaching institute to prepare for an entrance examination or not?” This is a question that every student asks himself/herself. A humble suggestion is that if your financial resources permit, you should go for coaching because you will get something new to learn there, or at least understand the environment for that exam.
But yes, it’s not a compulsion that only students who take coaching will qualify the exam. In the end, it is the mid-night oil burnt by you which will matter. So, students with poor financial background do not need to worry. There’s no need to feel that a certain person is superior to you just because they have joined a coaching centre.
Balanced approach in school is a must
The biggest mistake made by students at this time is the lack of balanced approach. Some are focused completely on entrance examinations and some are dedicated to academics only. One should focus on both. A myth of these days is that marks in academics do not matter if you have knowledge. Dear friend, they matter a lot in getting admitted to a reputed college in India in one or the other way. So, plan carefully.
Realms of college
Selecting a good college is a really difficult job for someone. But one should select the college which will fulfil the demands of the aspirant. Selecting the stream at the college is also a big issue. Some would stick to their school streams and some would like to have a change because of their taste. So, don’t worry. If you think that a certain thing would work better for you, go for it. Don’t think about what others would say.
But the life of a person changes in college. The actual education is learnt in college. You will learn that education is not about books only, it’s also about debating, dancing, dramatics, games, social work, NCC, NSS, internships and many more things. Here, you will connect to the actual society of India.
So, explore yourself as much as possible in the college. A miracle that happened to me is that being a Physics student, I started writing Hindi poems and plays at college.
Be Positive
Although I had decided Physics would not be my career option, I opted for it for my studies because I was interested in it and I am well satisfied with my decision. So, I would like to suggest that you don’t give up on your dreams and follow the right track which would suit you. The critics of the society will keep quiet in no time, so don’t worry about them.
Concluding, I would say that it’s high time for our country to focus on value-centric education to get rid of problems at the grass-roots level that we are facing these days.
