Mystory@Jenendre Yadav: How I made my career – Challenges and successes
In graduation, I studied B Sc (Maths) at Meerut College, Meerut. Most of the students paid more attention to practical classes than theory classes and we would actually study only during examinations.
In my postgraduation, I pursued Geography. So, basically attending classes was the main part of the daily routine during college days.
I had a great friend circle during my college days. We would study together in a group and the most intelligent among us would explain the concepts. Post college, preparing for CDS and CPF, the exams conducted by UPSC, was the aim and required special efforts. So I worked hard, burnt the midnight oil and cleared the written tests but each time I was unable to clear the interviews. Disheartened and shattered by that, I opted for PGDBE from WLC College, Noida, but due to family circumstances, I had to leave Delhi/NCR and return to my hometown.
At that time, I had a family to look after with no financial support. I had my father and grandfather to look after. There savings weren’t enough and we were in tatters. I got married because some people suggested my fortune will change after marriage. I applied in local organizations in my city but every effort went in vain and the conditions remained the same. One day while lying in bed I realised that there is something I can do and that was train people in English language. I gave the interview in nearby Strike One Corps Institute regarding it and got the job as English Fluency Trainer. At the institute I got to know through one of my students, about the vacancy for Geography teacher in a school where she taught. I had the good knowledge of S Sc as I had cleared many competitive exams and had also taught a few friends of mine. Moreover, Geography was my main subject so I got the job.
About life and the lessons you learn from it
I have been an athlete at school and college level and won many medals. I've played many sports at zonal and district level too, such as cricket and football. I always participated in extra-curricular activities like singing, dancing and acting.
I have had bitter experiences in life but they could never break me. I am a bit reserved kind of a person and maybe this is the reason behind my failure in SSBs for CDS because I couldn’t mingle with people easily hence I mostly completed tasks alone. But nowadays I meet people, party with them and enjoy life to its fullest. I wish I had developed this trait earlier then I wouldn't have missed those golden opportunities of my life. It takes a lot of time for a person to change his personality, same was the case with me. Now, I have realized my strengths and weaknesses and I am doing well in my field.
