Find out how pursuing an MSc IT degree course helped Tarun Saini becoming an entrepreneur.

Mystory@Tarun Saini

Since childhood, I always wanted to gain education and start my own business. I pursued BCA and MSc (IT) as I believe that IT is part of all our day-to-day life and it is very important to keep ourselves updated and be in line with the system.

As far as spending my college days differently is concerned, gaining hands-on software development knowledge is more important than concentrating just on bookish studies. Practical approach would help us in developing more creativity than just going and passing the college exams and getting the degree for some job. It did impact my life a lot as the college degree helped me increase my knowledge of software and enabled me to work on more of such related projects. It also taught me that if it’s in my mind, then it is possible and I should made all the efforts to get it done.

The only concern I feel in our entire education system is filling those eight long pages of questions that we need to fill for sixteen marks each, all those things that we need to write in the book which is not even relevant to the context. There was little practical work despite the fact that at any point of time, one is more interested in real life scenarios.

I have been a great fan of computers and how they function, how software works and how computers work which made me interested in choosing computers as my career. I eventually opted for Electronics. I wanted to be a Software Programmer but my knowledge was based more on theory as compared to the practical. I was always interested in finding out how is software mapped to hardware but no one in college was interested to know the same. If I could have, I would have developed brains on the basis of creativity. This is the major reason why we are far behind other developed countries such as the US: they are more focused on creativity and opportunities and I feel this is where Indian technology lacks.

I, as an entrepreneur, think that education can only help and support us with knowledge and it is we who need to find out ways of implementing the same in various areas of life. It could be in our jobs or life. We have to be very passionate and energetic for the work we want to do and need to know the path we want to follow to reach our destination. There will be times when we will be tested and that's when we really need to rise to the occasion.

My suggestion to the new generation is to work to your potential and never let your creativity die. Always focus on what you actually want to do in life.
