Commonly asked questions On Physics colleges in Sikkim
Sikkim University takes applications from the deserving UG and PG students for merit-cum-means scholarship in the prescribed format. Meritorious students who have secured 55% (50% for SC, ST, and OBC) in qualifying examination/ overall percentage of previous semesters as the case may be (50% for renewal cases) with an average family income of less than INR 60,000/- per annum and receiving no other scholarship/ financial assistance from any other source are eligible to apply. Students may apply in the prescribed format along with the parents’ income certificate (certificate issued by any officer, not below the rank of BDO/ Tahsildar). The fellowship will be awarded under the following category:
- Fellowship: INR 3,000 per month.
- Freeship: Full tuition fee and laboratory fee waiver.
- Half Freeship: 50% tuition fee and laboratory fee waiver.
The cutoff list of Sikkim Professional University, in general, is prepared a few days after the declaration of CUET result. In case of the admissions for the session 2024, the cutoff list will be declared within a week or so after the CUET result declaration. The dates to declare the cutoff list are not defined and issued as and when thought fit by the academic/admission committee. Such a list will include how to attain minimum qualifying scores for entry into the various courses offered in the university.
Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) is ranked first in Sikkim and second among the top engineering colleges of eminence in the 2018 Competion Success Review-GHRDC Ranking. Some say SMIT is one of the best engineering colleges in the entire North East.
Facilities: SMIT provides all the expected facilities, and the academics are up-to-date with trending technologies.
Faculty: The faculty is ready to guide students any time. The mathematics department faculty are amazing and very friendly to the students.
Placements: SMIT provides almost 90% of placements for all the branches in B.Tech. In 2021, 2022, and 2023, SMIT made 260, 522, and 366 job offers, respectively, against 350, 377, and 300 candidates for placement.

The NIT Sikkim CSE average package or other placement details are not out yet. However, the overall placement percentage for BTech has been released. During 2024 placements, 75.37% of BTech students were placed. Earlier, 83.70% of BTech students were placed in the 2023 drive.
