Sikkim University takes applications from the deserving UG and PG students for merit-cum-means scholarship in the prescribed format. Meritorious students who have secured 55% (50% for SC, ST, and OBC) in qualifying examination/ overall percentage of previous semesters as the case may be (50% for renewal cases) with an average family income of less than INR 60,000/- per annum and receiving no other scholarship/ financial assistance from any other source are eligible to apply. The fellowship will be awarded under the following category:
- Fellowship: INR 3,000 per month.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, founded the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Gangtok, as one of its units. Currently, NIELIT Gangtok provides both UG and PG students with close to 20 short-term and non-formal courses. All employees and students are welcome to use the central library and reading area at NIELIT Gangtok. About 300 books in the library are pertinent to the training sessions and courses offered.
