The college has a really good infrastructure.
Placements: In our batch, most of the students joined in IITs for PhD, and few were placed in a coaching institute. Some of them also joined the BCIL training programme for industrial training, and now they are placed in the Biotech company. In this year, one of the students was placed in TCS and offered with a salary package of 10 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college has a good infrastructure. We have all the facilities like highly sophisticated instruments. Wi-Fi facility is good and fast, and you can access it. We have a central library with course-related books and journals. The college lacks in sports. The food quality is good with the least oil and spices.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful and always motivating, and they also conduct extra classes. They provide study materials if necessary. We have teachers who graduated from Overseas University. The student to teacher ratio was low. We visit the industry in every semester. The course curriculum was useful.
Other: The college organises science fest, tech fest and cultural fest.

One of the top ranking central universities in the country. Times ranking-7 in the country.
Placements: After completing the course integrated M.Sc in bioscience and bioinformatics, most of our seniors went for pursuing PhD in the most renowned institutes of India like TIFR, NCCS, CCMB, JNCASR, NII. The campus placements in this course are rare as this course is mostly research oriented still we sometimes have a few companies visiting us. Many of our seniors are abroad working in best labs of the world. Usually, the students clear NET-JRF and go abroad for further studies. Students got internships in IIT JNU, Hyderabad University. The stipend offered in internships are Rs. 5000-10000. There is a placement cell, and it's very efficient.
Infrastructure: The best quality infrastructure is available here. We have Wi-Fi, good classrooms, good labs (all equipment available), the best library, medical facilities, best sports and games available on the campus. Labs and classrooms are very good. Around 3 to 4 canteens are available in the campus known as Amenity, KF, SOE Dhaba, Essentials. Each hostel has their own canteen. Each hostel room has two beds (2 seats, single seater rooms are also available). The food of the canteen is good enough. There are no infrastructure issues as it is a central university and it is ranked as the top university of the country.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified, and most of them are post-doctorates from abroad and PhD holders from premier institutes of India, like CCMB. Teachers are very friendly. The teaching quality is good, and students can cope up with the teachers. The teaching quality is the best. Digital and manual teaching methods are used. The student to teacher ratio is around 200:20. We do get industry exposure as we visit some industries as a part of our educational tour. The course curriculum is very helpful and the practicals and theory are well-balanced.
Other: We organise many events like Inscignis, Techxetra and many more. The campus crowd is less. There is green surrounding around. Central government and state government scholarships are available. Two well-furnished stadiums (indoor and outdoor) are there with night lights, and students can play at night too. A community hall, Chandra Prabha Saikiani hall, swimming pool are also present. Well-organised cultural and sports events are there.

Great infrastructure and faculty, but the course is not that good.
Placements: The placements are very low, and the MSc degree holders almost never get placed anyway. Most of the students opt for PhD which is the subject of another review. The campus placement drives for School of Sciences is discouraged by the current VC here. 80-90% students get good internships in the top institutes of India and abroad mostly due to the connections of our extremely helpful professors. I have heard that some get stipends as high as INR 30000 and at least 5000-10000, but I do not have enough data to give an average estimate.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is there which has a speed of 2 Mbps and goes as high as 8 Mbps. All Internet traffic is routed through a proxy, and the site blocking is very strict in my opinion. The labs are average, but the research labs are very well equipped with top-of-the-line equipment. The teaching labs are not quite good, and the MSc labs are better off due to DBT funding as compared to the integrated labs. The classrooms are good with projectors and power backup. A very well-stocked library is there with facilities for online renewal and booking as well. A health centre is there on the campus, though anything more serious than cuts and wounds is referred to the outside doctors. There is an auto-analyser in the health centre for blood test etc and an on campus X-Ray facility and a pharmacy as well, all for free. The mess food is below average but compared to most other universities I have been to for internships and projects, it is comparable. Most hostels have canteens with fast-food for cheap. There are 5-6 fast food joints in the campus as well serving all kinds of food. The hostel rooms are good having 2 beds per room with fan, fluorescent tube lights, tables, chairs and cupboards. The rooms are whitewashed frequently enough to maintain a clean appearance, or on-demand from the students as well. In my department, the instrument breakdown was an issue. Autoclave, the most basic instrument in any biological study was out of order more often than I would like. Some research labs have their own autoclave, and most have microwaves and hot air over, so they went by average, but the integrated and MSc students were affected. Pressure cookers were brought in to ease the issue. I would highly recommend against opting for the integrated MSc in Biosciences and Bioinformatics course here, as the computer lab of MBBT is very poorly equipped with the student to PC ratio being between 2:1 to 3:1 depending on your class strength. Software-wise too, the PCs are ill-maintained, though most have high-end specs with i5 vPro or i7 vPro processors. There is an in-house HPC and server as well.
Faculty: The faculty team is world-class, highly trained, very helpful and approachable. Most use powerpoint slides in conjunction with the white/green board. Many professors also bring in various DIY tools to make us understand the concepts. In that regard, they are the best I have come across so far. Tezpur University's MBBT department has the highest number of professors in all of India's biological studies departments to the best of my knowledge (and official data as well). The students are encouraged (and also helped by the professors personally) to get internships twice a year at India's top research institutes. Some students also opt to go abroad. I found the wet-lab part of the curriculum as good as any, however, the dry-lab part (given by Bioinformatics degree) was lacking. The number of classes and lab hours of bioinformatics subjects is very low compared to biotech, which is the major issue with this department.
Other: It is very important to note that it is a residential campus. There is 90% attendance and most departments enforce this to the decimal. Also, the passing criteria is set by different departments whimsically. Mostly it is 30%, but some departments need 40% some even 45%. I have found the campus life very restrictive of personal growth especially if you are going to be here for 5 years at a stretch, as there is a very limited scope of on-campus or off-campus fun here.
