For getting a seat in any of the NITs in any branch, you must have a rank near 10,000, and to get in aeronautical engineering, I believe that, getting a rank around 9000 would be enough.

There are plenty of colleges in India, where you can pursue a degree in aeronautical engineering. The colleges are mentioned below:
PEC University of Technology.

There are plenty of colleges in India where you can pursue a degree in aeronautical engineering. There is a mandatory joint entrance examination that is conducted by the board. Based on the score and the cut off marks for that year, candidates will be admitted to the college. The college are mentioned below:

Qualification is 10+2 with minimum 75%, you need to qualify national or state level engineering entrance exams like JEE, BITSAT, MHTCET, VITEEE, etc. to get in a top B.Tech aeronautical engineering college.

The question you are asking here depends on what you are looking to choose as a career. If you are interested in shooting, avionics and related fields then yes, aeronautical engineering is useful and is the foundation for such careers.

You must opt for "physics, chemistry and maths" in 11th class if you want to become an aeronautical engineer in future.
Also you have to try and get very good marks in 10+2 because from this year the 12th marks will be counted during admission into colleges along with the marks in the entrance examination.
JEE is conducted for 10+2 cleared students who want to get admission into various engineering courses in top Engineering colleges of India.
The paper is an objective type test in which the questions will be from physics, chemistry and maths. Those who score good will get a good rank and will have greater chance of getting admission into
