Merit students receive awards as a form of appreciation in the Algonquin College and they are as follows:

David Loye Award

Awarded to a student enrolled in Level 6 of the Applied Museum Studies programme with a 3.8 GPA or higher who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the cultural industry through extra-curricular activities. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Mercury Award of Excellence

Awarded to a graduating student in the Animation program who has shown professionalism in the field, a positive attitude, works well with others, an is a good animator that continues to improve. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Out of this World Award

Awarded to a female student enrolled in the Mechanical Techniques-Plumbing programme who demonstrates a high level of plumbing skills and a strong  overall academic record. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Sarah Grantier Award

Awarded to a second year Public Relations student who demonstrates strong written and verbal skills, good public speaker, is a team player and has the ability to bring out the best in people. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

We Saved You a Seat Entrance Awards

International women who want to pursue studies at Algonquin College in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) programs are encouraged to apply online for We Saved You a Seat entrance awards. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Hydro Ottawa Award

Awarded to a female student (s) enrolled in the first semester of the Powerline Technician program. Recipients commit to maintaining a 3.0 grade point average (equivalent to the letter grade B).

Scotiabank Women in Tech Award

Awarded to five female students registered full-time in one of the following programs: Computer Systems Technician (Co-op), Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technology (Co-op and regular options) or Electrical Engineering Technician (Co-op). Recipients commit to maintaining a 3.0 grade point average (equivalent to the letter grade B).

Yes, Algonquin College does provide scholarship to international students and they are as follows:

Arnold Smith Royal Commonwealth Society Scholarship- Ottawa Chapter

Awarded to an International student entering level 2 with a high GPA.  Recipient should be a student from a Commonwealth country other than Canada.

David Phillipe Duguay Scholarship for Academic Achievement

Awarded to a mature student in Level 2 of the Social Service Worker programme with a high GPA. A mature student is defined as someone who is 25 years of age at the time they are considered for the Scholarship. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Gary Neville Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to two students, in their second year of studies, one in Broadcasting – Radio, one in Broadcasting –Television, who can demonstrate academic merit. Open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.

Awarded to a full-time returning (after one term completion) international student (s) with a minimum GPA of 3.6.
