Certain universities like Manipal University and Lovely Professional University also offer lateral entry in second year of the program. For lateral entry a student must have a Diploma in Pharmacy with 50% marks in first and second year and must have Science group subjects in Higher Secondary School Examination.

You should be a graduate with minimum 50% marks
The university advertises about research openings in specific areas and you can apply for a specific field, if your qualifications match. (If you know some of the faculty in the specific field, you are better informed about supervisors, openings etc. )
Each of the registered supervisors for doctoral work will have a limited no of openings, as per the university regulations. A few universities conduct a pre-PhD exam for aspirants before admission of students, while a few others conduct the same exam after admission. The pre-PhD exam generally consists of questions on maths statistics and the specific area or field in which the student aspiers do the doctoral work. Normally, selected student works under the guidance of a supervisor for a minimum period of two years or four semesters, and they need to pay the semester/ year fees till they submit a thesis on the subject area. To get admission into the pharmacy course, students have to complete their 10+2 education & apply for national level or state level pharmacy entrance exam. There are some of famous university level exams like BVP CET 2018, IPU CET 2018, MHTCET 2018, etc. Few institutions offer direct admission into the pharmacy programme without appearing in an entrance test on the basis of class 12th marks.
